    Hello all.

Names Mike from Louisville, KY & i'm new to the air cooled world. I just sealed the deal on a trade from my 67 Stang for a 74 THING I'm super happy.

I have been in the vw mk1 world for over 15 years. I currently own a 82 VW Caddy / Rabbit pickup with a ton of work to it. I daily a 97 Audi a4 quattro

I know NOTHING about air cooleds BUT have many close friends that own slammed bugs, buses & things.

Here is my THING ( picking it up after Thanksgiving )
all new floor pans, narrowed bug beam, notched, 1600dp & much more

Seats will most likely be the 1st things to go

Hope to see you out next season.

Yeah I've been in and out of the aircools for the last 15 years or so.

Here's my car in the TeamEurotrash booth at MWVF this past year...

Did you ever find a truck? I don't know how the engines sit in those Things but the way my Beetle is I can push it onto a trailer backwards without worrying about dragging my engine, hell on the U-Haul I used it didn't scrape anything. I will say though that you will need to keep a close eye on the front wheels though, my narrow beam made it a bit sketchy. The tires were mashed against the inside rails...

    SUPER NICE

    find a truck

Yeah the guys said the front wheels when turning rub the inside rails. I'll add spacers & see if that helps IF not then skinnier front wheels.

I didn't bother with MWVF 2011 due to my Caddy not being ready & i didn't feel like taking the Audi again. Heard the show out was sad anyways.

2012 i'll be all over the place

I said i was new to air cooled NOT water cooled or this sight

I have gotten to know many h2o owners & what i said is based off my feeling of the scene.
I have owned many mk1s for over 15 years & enjoy my Caddy & selected few watercooled peeps.

    So chill

    ...cool man and again welcome!!

yeah the water scene i can take or leave it...to much "common" for me.

air cooled let's you hang it out or keep it stock and there is always a welcome..it's what ever the looker is into...mine,off the hook pro mod beetle driven on the streets...stocker boys hate it...cal look and resto guys love it...but neither "hate".

that's whats cool about the hobby...when that goes away,i'm switching to 10.5 tire, unlimited street, Nova

The headlights are just sealed beam h4's. You can buy non sealed bodies and simply drill and rock your own turns. There's other fender mount options but they are all ugly as balls IMHO. A nice set of crosshairs would do the front a lot of justice.

yeah guy i'm getting it from said it has H4 bulbs.

    Are these 7" rounds ?

So i can just get a set of lights with a city lights & hook that up as blinkers.

    WHAT ARE THESE ?

Saw them on a car F.S. on Samba & really REALLY like them. Can they be used on the THING ?

    or this would work

neither of those head light assemblies will work on the thing. the head lights themselves will but not the housings.

it just seems right to put t-bars on a fatchick, it helps slim her up a bit in my o/p. Big bumpers take the attention away from her nice curves.

disagree, t-bars must be played correctly on the right car. the above look pulls it off, not many can.
