Wiggle, pull, wiggle, pull. tap with a soft mallet, pull, bust your knuckles on something, cut your hands on something else. It'll give eventually.

ok, im trying to remove my distributor from my motor but its stuck pretty good.im pretty sure its the old o-ring or something thats caked to the block or w/e. i can turn the body but cant pull it out. theres not exactly a lot of room for prying, unfortunatly. i need it out so i can replace it with a good unit because my hall sender is bad. all input is appreciated. thanks!!

haha. yea, its not easy. unfortunatly im not getting much time to work on it because its in my work's parking lot and ive been really busy at work recently so i dont have much down time. and im sick this week and took the rest of the week off to hurry up and get better. sometimes it sucks having to work outside all the time, esspecially in the cold rain which i think is what did me in finally.well, when i get back on monday ill be back to it. how did you guys bang them out? im having a hell of a time getting underneath the car trying to tap it from the bottom. it also doesnt help that my brass drift is about an inch too short as well.

I had the same problem. I'm swapping motors and needed the dizzy off the old motor. Ended up using a bigass screwdriver and prying it up from the bottom. But now my problem is getting it back into the "new" motor. It absolutely refuses to go back in. I've tried brute force, tapping it with a mallet and it just won't go. It's such a tight fit that when I took it out I noticed metal shavings so I stopped and am now hoping you guys can help me out here.

I used a big wrench to pry it I believe. I debated wrapping a seatbelt on it and pulling but don't think I tried that. I remember bleeding a lot. Then again, I'm almost always bleeding when working on cars. I don't try to be more careful anymore. I just accept it.
I really suck at smog.

wow. back from the dead? lol. i ended up using a 1/2 drive extension about 2 1/2 feet long and went from underneath and hit it with a 3 pound sledge. that got it done. just needed some motivation. haha.
