I have way too much going on to complete this project so I'm giving it up. I have nearly everything you need to complete the swap.. even the '89 Jetta in excellent condition to do so.
I have an '89 Jetta that was originally a 1.6 diesel car. The body has $250K on it. I'm the 3rd, owner, clean title.
1.) '97 TDI (1Z) with 103K (New timing belt, tensioner, water pump, valve cover gasket)
2.) Complete harness from '96 Passat TDI (labeled w/ fuse block) Passat harness works well with MK2 body
3.) Passt TDI Pedal Cluster (lines up much better than MK3 TDI in a MK2 chassis)
4.) CTN Trans
5.) Master cylinder
6.) Gauge Cluster
7.) ECU
8.) Cable Shift w/ MK4 knob
All, remaining to complete the swap would be axles, down pipe, exhaust, acc. bracket, A/C and alternator. That's all you need to fire it up. I hate to have turned my back on this project but with young child and other constraints on my time.. I'd rather free up the garage space.
I want to sell all of this together.. so I'm not looking to entertain splitting this up. If you want more detailed pix of certain parts, let me know and I can get them for you.
I'd like to get $2,500 obo. I'm feeling that is fair based on the time and effort it would take to source those correct parts to make this swap easy. Pretty much plug and play.
I have to ask.....I have a fair amount of experience with the 1z/ahu motors. I have never seen the intake manifold/egr combination on this motor. Could this be something that was Canadian only?
Really curious.
Finally some pix of the car. Car is free of major dents, paint show as you would expect for it's age, car has manual windows, A/C, sunroof. I'm not selling the RAs or the Corrado steering wheel. The original equipment will go on in the car.
Any chance on selling the complete motor setup, minus the trans and the car I dont need those, but I would like everything else. You'd also have to ship, but I can arrange everything if you are willing to box it up for me. lmk
If it falls through, PM me, I'm local, interested, and very familiar with putting these together. I can check it out Sunday evening or early next week.
