    b) Might there be room for both?
    c) And if an Alltrack exists, does it make sense to sell alongside, or as a replacement for the Sportswagen?
Interesting points. Especially the last one. But this has me thinking how this model/models will slot in with the rumored future larger and cheaper Tiguan, and the mid-size Passat based crossover. Would either Alltrack pull buyers away from these two new upcoming models, or offer buyers who scoff at CUVs/SUVs/Crossovers a decent alternative?

    They'd sell dozens!

Yes, a Passat based crossover to fight the Highlander/Pilot has been rumored for some time. I think VWOA even admitted they were working on one that would be built in TN.

I did NOT say the Euro Passat and the A4 share platforms. I said the Passat Alltrack and the A4 allroad share platforms.

They don't. This Alltrack concept is based on the European B6.5 (B7) Passat wagon, which is a transverse engine platform closely related to the A5/6 Golf. The Passat and Audi A4 haven't shared platforms since the B5.5 Passat, which was a platform-mate of the B5 A4.

Oh, and back on-topic: My bet is that the A5/6 Sportwagen is the last one we'll see in the US. After the A7 transition what we'll get is a Jetta-sized Alltrack, with a TDI option. Manual? Probably not!

Nothing has changed in the last two months since I told you there was no news. If anything had been announced, you'd have heard about it. Chill out.
