Figured I'd see if anyone is into reptiles. My GF got me hooked a few months ago

First I did a lot of research as to what lizard I wanted, concluded on a Sudan Plated Lizard:

First day home, Unsure of actual age, she's much bigger now

This was her setup at first

Wasn't really happy with it, so I did some research about building my own enclosure. So I did:

All said and done, Total was just over $200 to build.

THENNN I was hooked, did more reasearch and took a liking to this guy

Chinese water dragon. I bought him with intent of a custom enclosure, but because of his age and size, this viv has done the job so far

and just this weekend, I noticed he's getting much bigger now, They're an arboreal lizard so they need climbing space, so I started his full viv. Started with a 120G aquarium

Still not tall enough, so I added an additional 2 feet

And I just finished the top and UVB lighting tonight

More updates tomorrow Here he is about 2 months ago

as soon as he is in his new tank, Baby savannah monitor is taking his old one, while I build a custom enclosure for it

Some updates on the enclosure, and a new friend

Picked up a female dragon on sunday

Got my new dresser and the tank into my room, stands a total of 7ft tall

Did my Styrofoam work, going to grout hopefully tonight, got a nice piece of driftwood in there too

      This will be a waterfall

Still a lot of work left, but i've got all my purchases done, Misting system, fogger, filter, lighting, glass, etc, Just a matter of how motivated I am

      lol, Nope.

Wow, good work on the enclosures! I absolutely LOVE Chinese Water Dragons... they are like Iguanas but they have an easier diet and are a bit calmer in my experience...

Thanks!, Yeah CWD's are super awesome for pets, My first dragon is super calm, Just hangs out, loves coming out of the tank, and is a healthy eater, the new one is still a bit jumpy, but she'll calm down just as fast. I try and spend at least an hour a day with them out, when I'm watching TV, or doing laundry etc, they just chill out lol
      lol, Nope.

Yeah, I feel I got lucky with him. I've heard some horror stories about Savs which is sad, People say they are beginner monitors, which is the complete opposite, they have SPECIFIC requirements to thrive and have a successful life. These guys can live past 20 years!

The niles are awesome monitors too!, But just know they are the most aggressive of all monitors

I almost picked up a white throat monitor, but I don't have the space to house one properly at the moment, so I stuck with the sav. One day I'd like a white/black throat, or even an asian water monitor

as far as numbers, I'm maxed out with lizards now I'm content. ALTHOUGH, I would LOVE an Australian Water Dragon.

Kind of rare around these parts, and normally 10x the price of a CWD lol

Here is were my WD tank is at. Working on it now

      lol, Nope.

Very nice! love your CWD's and Sav.

I have had a few anoles and leo's, and then a few inverts as well, but nothing big. I have always wanted something a bit bigger, so I am doing my research now, focusing on Black & White Tegus. I always loved them.

      Any input would be awesome.

      EDIT:

So I went into an aquarium specialty store today to pick up some stuff for a 20 gal I have had sitting around for awhile. They happen to be attached to a reptile store as well. A cute egyptian uromastyx caught my eye. I couldn't say no to it lol...

Only about 8", unsure of actual age but it is less than 12 months. Call it an impulse buy but I've always thought they were awesome.

I was so excited about it I completely forgot all about the aquarium stuff I went there for lol

Its temporarily in a 60 gal tank, but will soon be building a new one. Looks like you used styrofoam to build the hides/basking spot... looks good, I would love to do the same. Is that just grout like you would use for ceramic tiles you used?

Wow, you all have some fine looking reptilians there . My wife and I prefer to keep reptiles since they're quiet, don't smell, and generally don't make a mess. We have 3 Herps. We've got a 3 toed box turtle who we've had for 13 years, a 4 year old Desert Tortoise, and a baby Apricot Pueblan Milksnake.

I love the first lizard he's awesome! However I'm a snake gal. I had lizards when I was younger, but I overcame my fear of snakes and now I have 5 beautiful darlings. (Please pardon that I'm in all the pictures.)

These are my first snakes. They're about a year or so old. The lighter one is an Opal Corn snake and her name is Opie, and the dark one is a Charcoal corn snake, and his name is Jinx.

3 weeks ago I went to pick up three 6 month old ball pythons as some lady was selling them on craigslist, and she sent me pictures and informed me they were eating well. One is eating well, one is very very small, and the other was having a hard shed, due to inadequate care. They had no heat (lights, or under tank heat) no humidity, and no water in their bowl. The tank was disgustingly dirty with left over shed and feces. So I'm calling them my resuces, cause I don't know how long they would have lasted like that.

This is Willie. He's a normal ball python with a recessive gene for Snows.

This is Bumbles. He is a pastel.

And this is Runt. He's a little on the aggressive side, but I've been handling him everyday, and hopefully it will help tone down his agression a little bit.

I'm looking into getting tupperwares for them so I can separate everybody. The balls are going to run out of room before I know it as they were/are housed together. And I'm worried of accidently pregnancy with the corns so splitting everyone up soon! Hoping to get some better pictures with everyone after shedding. 3 out of 5 have clouded eyes.

Nice setups!! I'm going to be doing something custom sometime soon. Picked up my first snake about a year ago, Red tail boa named Daria. Unfortunately she had IBD and she passed about 4 months ago.

      One of my favorite shots

My newest little guy, Waldo (he hides alot). Another Red Tail boa. About 6 months old in this pic (just cleaned the cage)

If any of you are ever in the Chicago land area (Gurnee) Check out Serpent Safart. Some big snakes/reptiles/etc.

      Sorry to pic bomb

Yeah according to them (Serpent Safari), it's the worlds largest snake. 380lb Burmese Python.

They have a 325 lb Ananconda too

Pffft the one in the movie was bigger

But seriously I would crap if I stumbled across either of those (the burmese/anaconda) in the wild.

He's about a 16 inches I wanna say? It's an adult mouse that he's eating. My smallest is about 13 inches? he also eats an adult mouse. My corns which are about 2 feet eat fuzzies, but they'll be moving up to hoppers pretty soon. And theres a reptile show April 1 in New Hampshire, so I'm hoping to pick up a female Bumble Bee Ball.

Got a new friend over the weekend Pretty good turnout at the NARBC show and well I couldn't resist this gorgeous Argentine Boa. You can't tell but it has red and pink speckles throughout. Looks super mean looking but is probably the calmest snake I've ever handled.

Hey again! Crazy snake mama got another one. This is Sunny. She's a 7 month old pastel ball python that I picked up yesterday at the reptile show in New Hampshire. Guy said she wasn't eating well and would let her go for cheap. Brought her home set her up in a new tank (the rack system still hasn't come in. I'm about to just sleep on tanks myself! ) and she spent the night trying to escape but not being successful.

This morning I pulled her out and tried feeding her a frozen fuzzy and she was a little hesitant, but alas the supposed bad eater ate like a champ and went back to the nap I so rudely interrupted to feed her. She's gonna full of personality. I can tell.

Thanks! Piedbalds are what really got me addicted to ball pythons. I'm getting a pastel piebald from Garrick DeMeyer. Can't wait! He is having an open house of his facilities on April 21st in Wausau, WI. It's worth a 4 hour drive from Chicago! http://royalconstrictordesigns.com/

I love the Argentine's eyes!! We need some close-ups!!

Nice! I was just at NARBC in Tinley Park (South Suburb of Chicago) 2 weeks ago, thats where I picked up the Argie.... I'll work on the close ups lol, I just fed her. If I can make room I may start with the Piebalds, I love them!

This is all I have for now until she digests yesterdays dinner. I'm working on my Macro camera settings but she loves licking the camera so it's difficult
