It's time for to get rid of this project. It has been in my possession since 2000, it was my daily driver from 2000 until 2009.
The Bad: It would still fire up when it was parked in 2009. This was after the front end collision, so even after the front end damage the car started and drove. Since it has been sitting for the past 2 years the engine seems to have seized up. The cam still turns in the head, but the block seems to be frozen. The engine is original and has about 309000 miles on it. There might be a problem with the fuel pump relay. We hard wired it to a switch and the fuel pump works fine but didn't spend a lot of time diagnosing the problem.
The car suffered some front end damage (as can be seen in pictures) like I said above the car still ran and drove after the accident, it just didn't look quite as pretty. The body also has some rust areas (again see the pictures). The passenger door won't open, I can't figure out what is wrong and I haven't wanted to destroy the door panel to get to the inside of the door and figure out what is going on.
The good: The car is complete. I have all the parts (even though some might not be pictured i.e. the front bumper, drivers' seat and rear seat). The starter still attempts to turn the car over when the key is turned. The car has eurosport front and rear strut bars, and it has the eurosport lower tie bar that goes between the control arms essentially. I replaced the suspension with Bilstein shocks and Neuspeed springs (I think the race ones) at all 4 corners. I also did the 16v brake swap so the car has 10.1" discs up front and the smaller discs (7.9") in the rear, stainless lines were also installed at the same time. Sway bars front and rear were replaced with Autotech hollow 25mm front, 28mm rear, respectively. Battery was relocated to the rear passenger seat area. It also has the front cross member reinforcement piece that was developed and produced by a member on here on the board. I can try to look up that info if you want it. There are other little things I think I am forgetting but feel free to ask any questions.
I think this could be a nice project for someone or make a great 24 hours of Lemons car (this is the route I would take but already have a team with 2 Lemons cars in the works). I would like to get $500 for the car, and would be willing to send the 2.0l ABA block that I bought thinking I would do the swap for a bit of extra cash since the 1.8l is seized.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions or need pictures of anything else. And I'm sorry but I don't have time to remove and sell parts at this time, work and life are keeping me too busy to even work on the car![]()

I may be interested....i would need to figure out a way to get it to rockford tho....Does it roll well or easily? emergency brake works? Or maybe a car dolley could work? Is the battery still good? (for hazards to work) And how do you know the crank doesnt turn if it still cranks over with starter? Is the timing belt disconnected if you have moved the cams? Sorry for all the questions at once. And are you close to 90? THanks
Woot! 600 postonly took me like 3 years or so
