Paul ended up in Los Angeles... just in the other locker room. And honestly... I'm glad that the Lakers didn't end up trading for him. They'll have to give up Bynum and Gasol to have a shot at Howard and I'd rather make that move than Gasol and other parts for Paul.

Don't count out the signings of McRoberts and Green. The Lakers bench was pretty weak last year and any help to the second unit that they can get after losing Odom and Brown is going to be a bonus. And Kapono will have the opportunity to knock down some three's if teams double team Bynum down low.

Paul is going to the Clippers. Clippers and Hornent reached a principle argeement; Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu and Minnesota's first round pick in 2012 will be sent to the Hornets for Chris Paul.

Orlando just pull D12 off the trading block.

So what now for the Lakers?? Stern really strew us on the Paul trade which lead the Lakers to losing Odom.

Cleveland used amnesty on B.Diddy but he's out indefinitely with a bulging disc. If he can be had on the cheap, I'm not opposed to it.

Orlando going to roll the dice on Howard. If Howard is smart he stays away from signing until FA period then let the offers roll in.

If this is the case I think the Lakers could be in a decent spot.

Also same with CP3 - no extension signed - does he lose his opt out as well? Stupid trade by the Clippers to only get him 1-2 years. Then again if the Lakers are in the right position they could sign him too

I am not sure how all this new stuff works so I am probably dreaming right now but I think Howard staying to the end of his contract will actually make the Lakers a desirable location. This year may not be the greatest but it will not be bad either and another Finals appearance is not out of the question.
Hell if the Lakers make a run to the Finals and Orlando and NJ fall on their faces Howard and other FAs might be licking their chops if they really want to win it all.

David Stern can still go away now

CP3 opt in for the trade. He will be with the Clippers for 2 years; through 2012-2013. He could be a FA at the end of 2012-2013 if he doesn't sign an extension with the Clippers. So this mean the Clippers need to have 2 really great season and bring in more players to convice CP3 to stay.

In other Lakers news: Derrick Character out indefinitely with a torn MCL. Looks like more playing time now for McRoberts.

Lakers also signed Malcom Thomps from San Diego State. He's gonna be an underside power foward.

I agree with this 100%. I wouldn't mind seeing the point guard duties split between Fisher, Blake, and Davis.

If the team on Christmas Day is the same team that we have now it looks like McRoberts will be the backup power forward. The Lakers front office could not have been looking forward to a situation like this.

Saw that. Dude is dumb for not having a prenup.

Also, I just read in the NBA thread that Baron Davis is going to sign with the Knicks. It's looking more and more like the Lakers are going to head into the season with Fisher, Blake, and two rookies at the point guard.

Also they signed Troy Murphy yesterday which I like. He's a big man with 3 point range so he will be able to stretch the floor like Lamar was able to just without the ball handling ability. If he can play like he did with Indiana in '08 and '09 he's a steal.

He sort of is a white Sam Perkins. Only not as smooth. Sam Perkins looks like he smoked a fat blunt before every game and photograph he ever took.

But in all honesty I think the Murphy signing is low risk-high reward.

And it feels weird saying this but the Lakers are going to be on television tomorrow night!

The Lakers have five white guys. That has to be the league leader... right?!

And my friend just brought this up... do you think the Lakers chose not to use the amnesty clause on Walton or World Peace because they may be saving it to use on Kobe in two years?

I thought it was once per the life of the CBA. Once per year seems a little much. And if it were once per year not using it on Luke Walton is an even dumber move than trading Lamar.

Let's see how Fish plays. Then it will be MWP, Walton, and sadly, Fish BTW, I'd take Gilbert Arenas right about now if we can get him CHEAP.

I have a feeling its going to be a long and frustrating season for us Lakers fans. Especially if D12 is not a Lakers.

It's going to take time. You have to remember that the Lakers had nine days to learn an entirely new system. The Lakers have been running the triangle offense pretty much since 2000. Factor that in with pretty much an entirely new bench and chemistry is going to be a work in progress.

The Lakers still have Kobe Bryant and will be in the playoffs in the West. Crazier things have happened in professional sports.

The Lakers waived 5 players today: Gerald Green, forward Zach Andrews, center Chris Daniels, forward Malcolm Thomas and guard Elijah Millsap, the younger brother of Utah Jazz forward Paul Millsap.

Lakers' two second-round picks, Darius Morris and Andrew Goudelock, made the team.

I can't wait for my Bulls to serve up that butt whooping on Christmas day!

I kind of wish Bynum was playing though so y'all wouldn't have the excuse of "well we didn't have our full team."

And I loved the Clippers giving it to y'all! Any Lakers loss is music to my ears.

Although I hate that we lost, i'm actually not that dissapointed. We went up against a great team, we have a new coach, new players and we were without our true center. Oh yeah! and we only lost by 1 point. We get to start all over again tonight against Sacramento. We should be able to get the W!

Those missed FTs at the end of game would have likely made the last second come back by the Bulls null.

That's very true. If Pau and McRoberts hit even one of two on their trips to the foul line the Lakers wouldn't have been put into a position to lose on a last second shot. And Kobe having 8 turnovers wasn't helping either.

0-2. Metta World Peace had a good game. He need to play like this more consistantly.

Tonight, against Utah. Lakers 3rd game in a row.
