So, I had the windows tinted in my TT today. Later in the afternoon I took it for a drive and I noticed that the front speakers (doors and dash) are all no longer working. I adjusted the fade to the front speakers and sure enough, no sound is coming out of them. This also means that navigation and telephone do not work as the sound for those are played through the front speakers (apparently).

Anyone knowledgeable about the Bose system that could confirm that a loose connection in one of the doors might cause the whole set of front speakers to no longer work?

My plan is to go back to the place that tinted my windows and have them investigate as I can confirm they were working perfectly before the shop tinted my windows today.

If possible, I'd like to be a bit more knowledgeable before I head there on Monday AM.

    Thanks in advance...

    Chris

personally i dont like tint, and second after you remove your door cards they will never be the same, you will get rattles and weird stuff

i had to remove them on my 2012 tt cause i installed extra leather bits, but i was careful not to break any clips and it took me many hours, no problems for me, i tested everything was still working prior to attaching them back to the doors!

My experience with tint has been very different. Done multiple cars over the years, including my mkI TT QC without issue. Good installers know what they are doing.

Same here. This is the first time I've experienced any issue. The place I went to has a good reputation and I am a repeat customer.

OH no! Less than one week and you've got an issue. I'm feeling bad for you hichrishigh. Let us know how turns out, my TT brother.

    Good news... well, sorta.

I took the TT for a spin this morning and the speakers worked flawlessly. So far, it appears to have been an intermittent issue. I'm going to see if the issue comes back. I'm holding out hope that it was a ghost in the machine that has since moved on.

    We'll see!

Take it to the dealer, not the tint guy. Probably a loose wire, have it checked out at your next service.

I've seen issues in the past where the excess spray liquid used by the tint guys when applying the film seeps down in between the window and the door card and causes issues with electronics in the doors (such as the speakers).

I could definitely see the tint job causing the issues, but who knows...

Almost certain the fluid dried up and you should be ok now. Good luck!

I was on the Erwin site and noticed there was a TSB regarding malfunctions in the car due to aftermarket tint. Unfortunately I had not seen this thread znd did not read the bulletin so I am not sure if it relates to this but you cold check with your service advisor about it
