I installed a hitch on my wife's Routan earlier today w/ a bike rack. We have the auto rear tailgate and I'm paranoid that we'll hit the auto open with the bike rack on. I remember reading there is a way to disable the function (fuse or something like that). I've had no luck finding a way to disable it. Anybody have a link or info on disabling the auto open hatch/tailgate?

Found this, but it didn't look like anyone figured out a good way to disable the auto open feature...

No need to be paranoid. I've got a bike rack mounted on our hitch and I've hit the control button. No damage. The hatch opens very slowly and has an auto stop function.

Maybe get a section of pipe insulation or something and wrap it around where the lift gate would hit on the bike attachment. Then it'll bump that, and stop or close again. That way you're not disabling a useful feature when the attachment isn't on there.

Funny, the first time I tried to stop it from going up it didn't stop. I guess I didn't push it hard enough to trigger it to go back down. I may have attempt a surf board pad or something like that to protect the hatch from the rack.
