I am up in the air on if i want to sell/trade my built cabby. I have put alot of time and money into this car which is part of the reason why i am undecided. I would like to get into either an older car or a mustang with ls swap or something along those lines. But i will look/consider all trades.
1985 vw cabby
fully built 16v
ITBS
034 efi stage 1c
fully ported/polished 2.016v head, done by a local speed shop that has built some 6/7 sec race cars
built bottom end with JE forged pistons, knife edged crank, all arp hardware top and bottom end. 2033cc
Head has ti retainers, new valve seals/guides, TT cam, TT hd valve springs, Adj cam gear, all the valves were redone/lapped, arp headstuds, head milled but dont remember how much. And whatever else the speed shop has done.
Built trans with all new syncros, 020 4k, quaife lsd with bolt kit, eip clutch and lightened flywheel. hd motor mounts.
The exterior has been fully resprayed with everything stripped down, top off, front glass out, all the doors off and sprayed, All the side moldings shaved along with the side markers, euro bumpers and kamie body kit, hella fogs, newer top. single rounds. The paint job was around 8k for all of the work that was done. The color alone was 1100 for the gallon, not counting the primer or clear.
The interior has custom done seats like how the s4 seats are with black on the sides with blue up the centers. Ill have to get some pic of them. Has the 034 ecu mounted in the glove compartment. Also have wideband 02 gauge also.
I am sure i am forgetting somethings but this will get anyone a good idea of the car. I have some pics but dont know how to post them. So if someone wants to post pics i can send them via email.
Asking 9k obo, trade value higher. I have over 20K into this car.
Thanks for looking.
Please note that in these pics the doors are not all the way put back together and some wiring needs to be cleaned up in the engine bay. I also have the cover for the back when the top is down.

I admit that I too am curious as to what kind of PPG blue paint sells for $1100 for one gallon.
Something doesn't sound right![]()

Id have to look for the paint code. This car was painted over 8 years ago. Im not here to debate what this cost or what that cost. I know what i paid for the paint and that was getting a slight discount. If you want to look at all the ppg colors then go ahead. It was in the hot rod/custom paint book. I have no reason to make up stories if your not interested move along and go heckle someone else.

Several people have commented on your paint. It is not a debate on the cost of a gallon of paint, folks are curious to see if you're BS'ing, which is completely legitimate. Being evasive or hostile makes things worse.
Post up the paint code and where you got it. If the paint was in fact that expensive, that'd mean you're for real, but it also would mean you spent $1100, for a gallon of blue paint, for a VW.
If in fact the paint wasn't $1100 per gallon, and you took some poetic license ,that's OK, these things happen, just come clean on it.

Why would i make a post BSing people. I wouldnt waste my time or the other peoples time. I sunk alot of hard work and man hours into this car and i didnt cut any corners. It is obvious that you dont have a clue what a good paint cost. Look at some of the house of color paints that are a couple grand just for a gallon. PPG makes good paint while not as expensive as some of the house of color paints but still pricey. Like i said i can get the paint code for serious parties.
BTW i wasnt being hostile, i just dont like when people waste my time when they have no intention on buying or trading but rather clutter my thread with what they think. Ive been on the site for a very long time i know how it goes on this board. Like i already stated i will give the paint code to serious people, if your just kicking tires then kick them elsewhere.

I'll say I'm sorry again.
Why not seize the opportunity to educate us on the paint. I admit I don't know much and that I thought only special effects paints cost that much. When I saw the small pics, I admit that to me it looked like a normal paint job, bondo shave job etc... So when I saw the $1100 thing it made me wonder. Apparently I was wrong and I apologize, but if you don't object, I still would like to know more.
As far as tire kicking, I thought that was OK, in fact, every car I ever bought started with tire kicking window shopping type approach. In fact I thought tire kicking and feeler threads went hand-in-hand. Again if that's wrong, I'm sorry.
GLWS, I hope you get your asking price. Not that my advice would be welcome at this point, but you might consider presenting the car in a way that reflects it's top-of-the-line status.

You are right this is a feeler thread. I know some tire kickers will come through and all. I just want to keep the thread of stuff that really doesnt belong. You do have some good points and if you are interested i can send you the paint code. I really dont want to post it in the thread for the sake that i really dont want other people painting their cars the same color as mine. I already have someone around me trying to copy the color. As for a normal paint job, i dont think a body shop would take everything out of the car, front glass, top off, etc... The doors came off, the hood, all the door jambs are matched to outside like it came from the factory this color. most body shops will not go this far into the paint work unless requested and paying for it. This is not a go to maaco type paint job. Body/paint work adds up fast.
