Thread: FS: NOS 16" 3 piece Compomotive TH

  1. 12-05-2011 10:06 PM #1
I have a set of Compomotive 3 piece TH's. I know everyone says their wheels are "rare", but these really are pretty rare in my book. I bought these off of an old man that used to make his own wheels in the 80's. He said these wheels were on display on an imported European GTI that was displayed at the 82 worlds fair here in Knoxville TN. I don't know how accurate this is but these are original Comps and don't seem to have ever been used. Right before I bought them his grandson tore them down and painted the centers a dark gray. They are staggered at 16x7 and 16x7 1/2 and have a 57.1mm center bore. These wheels run standard BBS motorsorts 20 bolt barrel and lips, so you can make these any offset or width your hart desires with a quick call to BBS in Atlanta. I believe the offset is close to et20 as they sit perfect on MK1 and MK2's. I will post pics of the other 3 wheels as soon a s I get a chance, but was trying to gauge interest in them for now. Price will be $1600 plus shipping. Will get more pics of other 3 asap, but they look just like the one pictured and I don't have center caps.

UPDATE AS OF 1/6/11 I AM NO LONGER ACCEPTING TRADE OFFERS AS MY IN BOX KEEPS FILLING UP WITH OFFERS FOR EVERYTHING EXCEPT WHAT I DESCRIBED.

    $1600 PLUS SHIPPING FIRM!!!!!!!
    NO TRADES!!!!!!

Everyone is running ccw's and rotiform's, not that they aren't bad ass wheels. But you would be hard pressed to come across another set of these wheels at any show. The only reason I am selling these wheels is because I need a set of 16x9 or 15x9 race wheels in 5x100 for my race car. Thats the only thing I would trade for. A set of CCW race wheels in 5x100 that are not staggered, or a set of rs's. What's the diameter of the rotor on that set up?

I will vouch for these wheels... I took a few shots of one after I spent maybe 5 minutes wiping one off and wiping a lip with some polish by hand.

Also since the offset was not stamped we measured the offset and came up with an ET25

As much as I would love to own another set of 001's, I will only trade for 5x100 wheels for a race car. Thanks for the offer though.

    Agreed.

Have these wheels ever had tires on them, or known to hold air since the tear down?

I was told they had tires on them in 82? I have not mounted tires on them. These wheels have big rubber o-rings that seal them and not silicone. The o-rings seem soft and should seal. If they don't seal then they would need new o-rings that are inexpensive from BBS.

These wheels are in Knoxville Tn., yes as mentioned in my description, you can make these any width/offset you wan't as BBS has all barrel and lip combos you can think of. Thanks for the offer on the Volks, but not what I'm looking for.

As far as I know RG's are only available in 4x100? I am only interested in motorsport wheels in
    5x100 x 16 inch as trades.
