Thread: The car enthusiast thread. All topics are fair game - you just need to love cars (since TCL doesn't)

    APPROVED!

When I start modding mine I'll post what I do... you best do the same.

What are the details on it?

I definitely will! First mod I'm thinking of are ecode headlights. Then some fun stuff.

It's a 96 Montego blue, cloth interior, super clean, and came with a hardtop.

These are the headlights I have in mine and I love 'em. They don't open quite as wide as the stock headlights do (lazy eyes, they call them).

You're lucky you've got a hardtop! If you want to you could probably make a grand off of it, depending on condition.

I'm planning on Raceland coilovers ($370! with a 2 year warranty!), a rollbar (because apparently rollovers=death in a Miata) and wheels. Should have it all done by the end of summer, as long as it and my Audi behave and don't require repairs.

Have you shown it off in TCL?

    Of course I have!

And I've considered those headlights, but I really just love the rounds.

Hardtop is staying, at least for now, as the soft top needs repair. Glass window became separated from the soft top sadly.

I tthink I convinced my friend to dump his RSX for a BRZ. I want some sort of Subaru commission. Also as a 90s car fan living in Michigan and a frequent Craigslist lurker, most 90s cars are rusted to **** there. My trip to SoCal has shown me that if I want a rust free example, basically every car here is flawless.

Cool! If you need/want a bra, I have one from the PO.

Good luck with the soft top... I've heard they're horrible to change out.

I'm not even going to bother changing it out since it is so new. I have read about a few people who had the same exact problem with the replacement tops fixing it with sealer. Some of them end up looking a little ugly, but I don't care. The car will have the top down or hardtop up 95% of the time, I just want the softtop to be good in case I get stuck in the rain.

Edit: also ordered myself a little ecode setup. Driving last night made me realize how much I hate stock sealed beams.

So i have the wife on board with the GTI for BRZ swap. Couple nights ago we're out in the GTI (rare occurence these days) and i was saying...'ill get another 3 years out of it and then i'll be ready for the new car'.

She then replies, 'why wait 3 years?'

Chicago is 2" short on rain this month (season?) and we've had awesome weather for over a week now.

BUT, I just guaranteed the rain will come...because I put the top boot on the S2000.

Me too, was walking my dog and saw a red one with black painted trunk and hood, smashed windshield, and a stupid "Seen it!" sticker across the front windshield. Some imaginatively pierced douchey kid came out, hopped in, and took off. His car looked retarded.

    I can't

I love it, even though I hate it.

it comes home in two weeks, gets new fender, painted, and lowered more, and then I get working on the '73 Beetle my mom bought today, family owned since new, documents till 1982, and rebuilt a few years ago.

.................and maybe then I'll scrap my drift car plans and buy a beetle.

Thinking it might be time for me to purchase another FD RX7, I find myself daydreaming about both of mine quite often. They are so amazingly hot... FD ownership is definitely an experience - I live withing walking distance of my job and everything else I need - perfect time

This one actually has a Nissan RB25DET swap

If I ever do pull the trigger again I'm going to finally build a 20b with a big ass turbo

I've got a bunch of high end vintage audio gear I'm clearing out, restored Marantz 4270 - better than new condition; Pioneer SX-5590, 8/10; Concept 16.5, 8/10 cosmetically - 10/10 function. Various high end vintage speakers: Rectilinear Research, AR, Kenwood, Infinity, McIntosh, Leslie 251. PM me for details, clearing out to finance home theater upgrade.

Mine did something similar a few weeks ago where the air just wouldn't blow at all. I guess the HVAC systems in these cars are pretty dumb, but simple to fix. Mine eventually just came back on.

Well by heater hose I mean the hose that runs from the back of the block to the heatercore. Coolant everywhere.

Apparently it is a pretty common problem...

So, the Miata is fixed...I think....I hope

Of course, nothing EVER works out for me. Decided to change the air filter right after finishing the hose job and had to disconnect the MAF to take the airbox off to make room. Dropped the nut on the hose clamp down into the bay to never be found again...time to go buy another clamp!
