I'm looking to upgrade my system with a $1,000 budget in mind for parts. I'm thinking of going the following parts:

    amp - Alpine MRP-F300
    processor - Alpine PXE-H650
front component - Polk Audio MM6501

    ...no sub

What would you recommend? I want to retain all factory controls and want a clean sound with less emphasis on bass since I've read that the stock MKVI speakers are pretty good if there's enough clean power fed to them.

I see this is an older post - did you ever complete the work? I'd be interested in how it turned out. I've been told I really should include a sub in any audio upgrade to my base system (RCD 510 Premium 8 in a 2012 GTI).
