It's cool Tommy. Bring a few of those toys to the Pittsburgh Race so we can cruise the pits in style.

Nothing worth riding out here except Silver Lake dunes in Michigan. Thinking about heading west next fall either Moab, Glamis, or Winchester bay but we'll see how funding is looking.

    MK2 GTI 12V VR6 Turbo project underway!
    03-02-2012 04:13 PM #193
After much debate, I've decided on a VRT build. Just need to decide on MK1 or MK2 for the host. I'm leaning toward MK2 however, since weight difference is negligible, and the install would be simpler. I'll start on that in the summer probably, and then work on it over the winter. Hoping to have it running some baselines by next Jan. No solid goal yet, but I wanted to start with 12.5 and whittle my way down...it's a low budget project, no extreme engine builds. Mostly junk yard parts and such. If I can hit 11.5 before it blows up, I'll be satisfied.

Got my car running considerably better. 19xx lbs @ 12 lbs of boost on street tires is ! Can't wait to crank it up to 20. Who's getting excited? Weather is getting nicer and nicer soon time to terrorize the 1/4 mile.

just going to start with the 1.25 housing....

but i needed to clean it up a lil, for some reason these BW turbos are kinda rough in the hotside inlet. lay on gasket, scribe some marks, and get to grinding.

    Left to Right 1.25 --> 1.10 --> 1.00

Billet is cool and shiny and stuff

i already ported this housing long ago.

fair bit of material to get out of there

    almost done

VIOLA!!!!! should flow much better now....

spent most of the time tonight re-routing the dump tubes and redoing the SS hardlines for the wastegates. also re-plumbed the WG solenoid as per the tuners direction.

the list gets shorter and shorter. plan is to do the charge piping on Saturday. making a new VC, catch can, and oil retention pan as well as i dont want to try and put on the engine diaper i got.

  32. 03-10-2012 10:42 PM #208
i guess i am all alone here..... anyhow.

redid the entire A2W piping today, with nubvr on the welder and me on the fitting/grinding.

Justin @ Linder Power Systems flowed me some couplers, so we redid the piping to incorporate these fittings.

and it looks good i think. spent the whole day doing it all, and it turned out good.

so, Justin (nubvr) came down to Speeding-G60 Race Team HQ today and we spent the whole day redoing the entire boost piping, utilizing Linder Power Systems custom couplers.

we welded onto the turbo compressor outlet, the A2W intercooler inlet and outlet, even cut off and welded on to the throttle body.

it was a longish day of fabrication and welding, and it looks kick ass. i had a MESS of little horseshoe shaped niblets of aluminum pipe laying around when i was done from the constant nibbles and cuts, etc.

    THANKS JUSTIN!!!!!

had a fat 3 lb Rib-Eye lunch and beers along the way. when welder comes to you, then feed him you must!
