Usually people who accidentally hit something react in a "what just happened" type way. Since he kept trucking backing down the court not even looking back I think the suspension fits the crime.

im hoping for no more than 2 games, but thats doubtful. such terrible timing.
Harden wasn't pushing Artest. He picked a spot after the dunk and just stood there. Artest is the one who came at him. I don't know what people are thinking when they suggest that Harden did ANYTHING wrong, or in any way provoked Artest.

Check out the first 5 seconds of this video. And 1:00 to 1:05.
Watch Harden and tell me he was "pushing" Artest. No way.

It's not that Artest had no idea what he just did. He felt a body and loaded up that elbow and swung hard. He knew. He just didn't give a ****.

    7 games is fair enough.

Harden was positioning for the inbounds pass and just happened to run into Artest coincidentally. And then after the blow was given, he just ran down the court like he did goddamn nothing.

To accuse Harden of instigating the whole thing is absurd. MWP imploded. I wanted 10 games but 7 is ok.

ok it wasn't necessarily "pushing". its more like a quick body check to get in the way of an opposing player, stand your ground, and make him run around you type of thing. it definitely wasnt incidental contact. everyone does it all the time, but usually its done by one of the bigs. which is probably why artest swung high, assuming it was perkins or ibaka....anyway, im not defending the elbow. it was a bonehead move for sure. i just find it hard to believe he was aiming for harden's head. and 7 games is a little steep, but whatever. lakers always have to have some type of drama come playoff time.

So what? I don't see the point of even mentioning Harden unless you're trying to take the heat off of Artest. Imagine Harden committed a reach-in foul on Artest and got sucker punched half a second later. Because that's about as much sense at this made.

And even if that was Perkins in his way, that elbow was way overboard. Might have been a tech in-game, and then probably a 1 game suspension after Stu Jackson saw the tape.

Personally 7 games is alittle light for someone who has a track record like Artest

i mentioned harden because that IS my point. actively preventing an opposing player from moving is technically a foul. so technically, harden fouled him first. it just doesnt get called because everyone (especially the bigs) does it. the only reason he got 7 games is because of his reputation, and the fact that it was the smaller harden and not perkins/ibaka on the receiving end.

exactly! and thats why i think 7 games is a little steep. but whatever. whats done is done.

again, im not defending the elbow. it was stupid and way over the top. its just not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. kenny smith and dennis scott had the same sentiments on nbatv last night. it was a "get the F out of my way!" move that got out of hand.

This is pretty much how I feel about it. I think it was intended to hit him in the back, as a "get off me" move. He was looking in the complete opposite direction, and I doubt he even knew who it was bumping against him. To think that he maliciously aimed for the head, and was able to connect perfectly with a blind elbow to the head... I just don't see that.

He was pumped up about the play, some guy bumped into him, and he pulled a "get the **** off me" move, that landed in the worst possible place.

Still woulda been an in-game T if he hit the back. But people are acting like he was intending to knock him out. I don't think that's what happened.

kinda bummed that Kobe is sitting out tonight instead of going after the scoring title. I know it's meaningless to him at this point of his career and the rest is needed, but watching a viñtage kokbe gunning for the scoring title would have been fun to watch and great for the fans.

With his percentage he would have needed like 100 FG attempts.

I like the old NBA [especially Knicks Vs Heat]

Back then Oakley had to throw Mourning to the ground to get a technical foul. Now players get them for just talking to each other

The refs totally took the knicks out of this game. Clearly, you can't touch Lebron. And the knicks are collapsing mentally.

The "push off" by Carmello followed by the tech when he passed the ball to the ref sums it up pretty well.

How can you not expect that to get in your head? Terrible officiating broke the Knicks in the first half and that was it.

Meanwhile, Shump looked like someone shot him in the kneecap, the way he just collapsed in pain. I'm not just worried about this series, but for his career. Dude has a BRIGHT future. Hope he recovers 100%.

Really? I thought it was just the defense stopping the Knicks, and Woodson putting too much faith in Smith as their point man/ball handler.

The fouls were out of hand, but it wasn't the reason why it was a blowout.

And yeah, hope Shumpert is fine. The crowd got real quiet when he went down, even though Wade hit an and 1 a few seconds afterwards.

EDIT: oh, and I would like to point out that our role players were playing great too. Simply impossible to stop us if they're doing their jobs, along with Lebron and/or Wade.

Eh, hindsight is 20/20. I dont think anyone thought Rose would've injured himself by just going for an uncontested rebound. I know he's had injury problems this year, but it's not like he was crashing into Young or Brand.

Also, holy crap, who would've thought the Indy-Orlando game would be the most entertaining EC game today? Not sure if Orlando is actually good without Howard, or if Indy can't handle the pressure.

EDIT: nm, he was driving to the basket. My bad.

    .
I would just like to say that as a Knicks fan I agree with all of this.

The Knicks probably werent going to win either way. But Lebron James and DWade dont need that much help to beat a 7 seed.

Every or just about every charge the Knicks had called against them was pretty accurate.

But the Flagrants, the techs, push off foul?? Lebron flopping out of bounce. Just weird crappy calls.

I cant stand JR Smith. He has the potential to light it up BUT he seems to almost never pass and cant [or couldnt today] dribble to save his life.

The techs were definitely weird(people aren't even mentioning the two techs against Haslem and Amare early in the game, just for a little bit of trash talking). And that wasn't a flagrant. I'd say it was a moving screen, but Lebron sold it a bit, and got the official to change his mind.

Anyways, I don't think its a surprise due to his reaction, but Shumpert tore his ACL too.
