To a fellow Minneapolis-ite. I just bought a DBP R from Westside. (Sorry ) I've seen your car (well, I heard it first) and wish I'd have seen you at Eurowerks this year, but got stuck working.

all those engine bay pics arent around the same time are they? how come one has that little blue thing in the fuel line .. and the others dont .. is that like a mini fuel pump?

and the downpipe .. does that go from 3.5 at the vband then up to 4"?

this exhaust is 4" the whole way ?????? that must sound AMAZING

i love how clean the bay is .. most boosted R bays arent half as clean as this

It will be at Eurowerks this year as well, stop by. Also PM me, the roads are dry and the sun is out.

One of the pictures is slightly newer with the Mk IV .:R fuel rail with a return to the tank (with that little inline filter). We had to do this to get enough fuel.

And the outlet from the turbo is 3" and widens to 4", then is 4" down, 4" back, 4"tips and no muffler.

I live in TX and I dout that I would ever get to go up there where u guys are it seems like that's where all the good shows are, BUT here in TX we do have the Texas Mile a few times a year and I love those GTG........ I would love to see that Beast go down the Mile at over 200+mph and then drive home like nothing happened

U still waiting on the clutches???? Who are they coming from a agin????

I thought HPA had some up graded DSG clutches???

It's sucks that u have all the power but limited by the drivetrain, 700whp would be so sick to see and hear drive the street at WOT

    Welcome to VWVortex
Hey!! I'm in the Mid West, so all those shows and events are over 1000 miles away as well. Just drive there, no excuses!!

I have tried and destroyed two aftermarket clutch packs. Stock clutches work best so far. And UM has software that gets me most of the way there, and more updates on the way to put the rest down. So I'm waiting on software, no so much clutches.

And the Texas Mile might be on my 2012 list of things to do.

Anyways, good to see you here. I'll still be at Golf MkV, but here is where the action is (apparently).

we were building my downpipe and 4" was up in the air but fitment woulda been a biiiiiatch .. i said theres no need for 4" unless I am shooting for 600whp .. and you sir .. look like youre shooting for even higher than that wow this setup is sick .. how tight is the bend near the firewall from hitting the subframe/wall ?

Things are very tight, but everything clearing. good engine/trans mounts are essential to keep everything from slopping around. The downpipe is a work of art. The guy that made it was brilliant. I could tell a story about it one day.

Well it has been through several iterations over 3 years. Multiple turbos, multiple exhausts etc. DSG has been out 5 times, many clutch packs. Plus lots of custom stuff, like a custom radiator before there was an aftermarket option, custom 4" downpipe and exhaust. Then the tuning where Jeff at UM flew here for 3-4 days. All very expensive.

How expensive? I have parted with $95K excluding the new car price. If you built the car now with the learned knowledge, it would be MUCH cheaper obviously. As to WHY....because I wanted to push the limits of the MkV with DSG. And yes I know there are MANY other cars I could have purchased for the same money or less. But I'm an .:R guy.

    I just creamed my pants.

What kind of rubber is under it? With that much power, AW-Driftu must be pretty easy. I hope you have extreme perf or at least max perf summer rubber on it?

It's really amazing how much of a difference rubber makes. A car can have craploads of power but you can still catch it on curves (Dragon) if you have better rubber.
I have installed most of the popular bolt-on mods for a 2008 R32, minus suspension work. I know a lot about electronics and car audio, and have experience with VCDS ("vagcom"). I'm a radar/lidar countermeasure enthusiast. I like track days, autocross, and US Highway 129. I love aural pleasure.

Hey Zev, got a MKVI Golf R you may be interested in reading up on: http://www.golfmk6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11912

Of note is the fact he has 600HP DSG Clutches that seem to be working perfectly and holding up well...
