I'm having second thoughts about the R. I have a 2011 GTI Autobahn which is really all the car I need. I like the idea of increased power, but I rarely get on the 200 horses I currently have. I like the idea of awd, and I like the front end of the R. But I also like my DSG, and love the interior. I know, this is heresy on this forum but . . .

The R will be awesome, but it's reasonable to question whether one should trade in a perfectly good GTi that you like just fine, take the depreciation hit plus the upgrade cost...
If it were me, my would be oh so tempted to go R, but my head would make me stick to the GTi. That's just me.

Not sure if you're including cars from buyers not on vortex but I have two friends also with cars on order...first also in NJ who is getting a White 2 door loaded and another in NE who is getting a Blue 4 door loaded.

I thought the first "batch" were only going to be blue but on the chart i saw gray, black, and white with January delivery dates also?

No, these aren't being produced in any specific color-order. Manufacturers usually don't produce one color at a time. Last time I went to the Corvette plant it was all mixed up.

HA boyd, we were told the first they are getting, and supposedly like in the first 10 nationwide. Not sure how that is even figured out but appears that it will be in the first batch set for 1/16

For quite some time everyone here has be dealing with Vision('03 gti, '04 A4, '05 Toureg, '09 911, etc) but the sales persons we used had left and started getting the run around and since Ha Boyd has been treating us right('10 Tiguan, '10 GTI, '12 R)

You're certainly up there with an M00XXX commission number. Most of the M1XXXX and M2XXXX are expecting a 1/16-1/23 delivery. My car is M31455 and is showing 1/23.

Jsausley, i'm m0XXXX and am hoping we both get ours 1/16, i know my dealer is saying 1/23 but im hoping they're just padding time. My next update is due 1/10, and the only thing I can think that they'll update is 'on truck', so it doesn't make sense that it'd take 2 weeks from GA to NC via truck.

You and I were thinking the exact same thing. My dealer told me "scheduled to be released to carrier" on 1/13, and it really shouldn't take 10 days to truck it a few hundred miles.

We have most of a turbo kit for it(most stuff is the sam as TT-S) however we may wait to see if APR has anything planned for it bigger turbo wise.

I'm still looking into getting a smal plaque type piece made for the trim inside your R. I'm thinking of a number of ideas with a number/color deal... I know there is no way to verify who got the first one since the VINs aren't numbered, but we can go by who registers/verifies first and call it 1/5000 or something of that nature. Sounds cheesy, but I think it would be cool if enough time was put into it.

As for the plaque idea... I like the idea, but I don't think it should be anything mounted to the car. It seems a little tacky and in the event that any of the cars make it to the used market it might make things strange. Plus since it's not really official it seems sort of falsified to me in some way. I like the idea though and I would like to see it implemented somehow... We could do certificates or something of that nature.

Well, I wasn't going for big and loud... I was thinking some small piece of aluminum trim or something like that.


I do like the idea of a certificate... But I think it would be nicer to get an engraved plaque you can hang up in your garage or something. Nothing too expensive, but will be a nice keepsake to have around.

Just got back from ordering mine today. 4DR RB. Was surprised to see you can order the 4 door without nav and sunroof... but in the end I just went for it loaded. Get my number on Monday. Will be interesting to see how long I have to wait.
