2012 Touareg Lux pana roof question

Hi I was under the impression that the moonroof in the 12 Touareg was the same as the Jetta wagon and the Tiguan.
Does anyone else have the issue of NOT being able to close the moonroof shade when the moonroof is open?
I tried it on the Tiguan and the shade fully opens and closes with the roof open. Same for the Jetta wagon.

Why would VW not do the same for the Touareg?? Or is it our yute???

I thought I had tried that and I could do it, but will retest the theory.
But I'm curious...why would you want to have the moonroof open with the shade closed?

With the sunroof open, I can close the shade to the edge of the glass panel, but that's it.

How are you ever supposed to clean the top of the vinyl sunshade if you can't open the glass with the shade closed? The shade picks up dirt and conceivably leaves or other debris. There's no way to clean it. The Tiguan and Sportwagen allow the glass to be fully open with the shade fully closed for cleaning. Over a long period of time the dirt etc. will get ground into the vinyl every time the shade opens.

Granted you probably don't want to drive with the glass open and the shade closed.

I poked around in VAGCOM tonight, found a couple references to Roof Electronics and such, but no modules were found.

I wonder what happens if you try to open the glass while holding the shade closed with your hand. Someone try that and let us know. Anyway I can't believe there's no way to do this.

The solution turned up in post #9 of this thread at clubtouareg.com:

Basically you open the glass all the way by turning the roatary knob past the last normal detent. It's spring-loaded, will turn further. Once the glass is now truly fully open, you can close the sunshade.

Naturally you would only do this for cleaning purposes.
