Congrats man! There's nothing like firing up a new engine for the first time.

I drove mine around with the wiring harness hanging all over the place, I was so stoked.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Congrats! I remember my first swap... Just happened to be Steve's mk1... I was so exited to hear that turbo diesel running that I went the next day and got temp plates for it, even though I had no exhaust, and most of the interior was still sitting in the garage. lol

A turbo diesel with no exhaust sounds boss as f*** ,BTW

Right on man, congrats! I thought about getting rid of my power steering, but F*** that! My pump is on death row and it is bad enough trying to drive with it still being somewhat functional, I couldn't even imagine no power steering at all! Have fun and beat the sh*t out of it! Next time I am up that way in the GTI I will hit you up, I want to check that thing out!

Well, she is completely finished......for now!! Blew a coolant hose off the day I got temp plates, no big deal, just wasn't attached all the way! Then yesterday on the way to Baumholder for inspection, blew one off the heater core pipe!! I was 5k from Baumholder when it happened, in uniform, and people in uniform just drove right by me!!

Anyway, come to find out, somebody has replaced that hose before and they broke off the pipe that comes from the firewall into the engine bay. There was enough there to get the hose back on and put a new hose clamp on and get it through inspection!!!

My fix, no heat! Screw it, I don't have A/C, what do I need heat for? Hahahahaaa, I see a heater core job in my future! Anyway, had a line bent to loop the heater core so no coolant is going in or out of it, for now.

She runs good and drives like a bitch without power steering! Just gonna take some getting used to I guess! Anyway, that's about it for now, waiting on laundry and then heading out to the coke plant for a little bit before work......later on guys and thanks for watchin this thread. I will upload pics soon!
