Thread: Jettred3's ABA cabby build, t3/t4 turbo with intermanicooler.

    1. 12-27-2011 12:33 PM #1
Car just started making rod knock sounds and I need to rebuild the bottom end.

I have spare ABA in the basement on a stand, i'm mocking things up on.

      TURBO PICS ON Page 2

      Pics from the build

First thing I did, when the origina 1.8jh started having issues, is source an OBD1 Longblock.

Had the car towed to a self storage unit, where the swap would take place.

Tore the block down to be rebuilt by PROLINES w/ BBM sourced forged internals.

      Updates

I like the idea of the intercooler integrated into the intake, but will that actually fit in a mk1? The mock up pics are in a mk3. If I understand what you're doing here correctly

It will fit, we are building it from scratch.

PLEASE TAKE the time to vote for me.

Just a rough sketch, but thats the idea I'm hoping for.

First pic, just for size compare and layout, there is about 1/2" i can go down

angled a little... notice where still really high! Measurment is from bottom of the head, it is also sitting flat on the table, not at angle like the block
I'm hoping we can chop the core down a bit, or I may just get him another core to work

We will end up running a bell core, and selling off the core pictured up.

They were very cool about it. Only problem is lack of power, heat and lighting...

This is my build thread dude, I'm sorry i posted my intake build in the fabrication forum as well, but it's some damn good fabrication.

I also posted the intake pics in the forced induction forum since not many people look at the fabrication forum.

I promise not to make any more threads

Give props or constructive criticism or GTFO or my thread....

Well I was talking about two threads you didnt even mention:

      http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...e-build-update.

      http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...nifold-Project

But ok I'll go along with the program,

Props - for going at it yourself and using the hand held router, and the general results of how it turned out. All for people doing it themselves

Constructive criticism - for quoting anything by HKK, with all the history with that guy, as well as for blowing out the runners when routing when its easy to figure the depth and radius you can route without doing so with some quick math.

No worries man, my fabricator had not used the router bit that big before, **** happens...

I think the bell mouths are spot on.

      Just ordered my AWIC resevoir.

Got some work done on the interior today, pics soon.

Also bought and wired up an oil pressure gauge.

    21. 12-28-2011 11:05 PM #23

I'm gonna mount this in the spare wheel well, in a alloy or lexan fabricated enclosure.

US Rally Team writes We will curse you and all your generations... if you do not provide regular updates. This build is officially USRT GRADE.

I have some ideas as well.

Basicly the TB mount on the inlet to plenum will sweep back towards the head and over the valve cover.

It's fun, I picked up some Mercedes Tessa wire tape, and some shrink wrap, and am soldering and tucking all the loose wires.

I hope to be able to communicate with the ECU via Vagcom, if the OBD1 port becomes functional.

      Glad I have a Bentley.
