Just like the title says. Id really like to have a PD motor, but Im not sure those will bolt to an 02M. I am also looking at a 1Z which im sure will bolt up. Whether or not it will bolt into a mk1 is another story, but I can deal with that later... I believe that anything prior to 05 will work, which rules out the PD motors. What about the ALH & AHU motors? Can anyone confirm this?

    Thanks
    -Simon

If you have an o2m from any 4 cyliners it will bolt up. A tdi 02m will work on any tdi engine at least up to 06 in the US. You need a tdi 02m or the gearing will be all wrong.

thought this update posted, i guess not

my 02M is from an audi TT and i am doing research to see which ratios need to be changed so i can use my trans with a TDI.

found this handy chart of euro tdi 02m ratios

    then theres this calculator

    http://supradave.com/tech/gearspeed/comparator.php

so now i know where i need to be, i just need to figure out what ratios to change to get me there...more to come.

this is a pretty good chart, but i noticed a few are missing.

    vwtechnic.com/Technic/VWGearboxRatios.xls

one thing Ive noticed, is that all the 02M transmissions that are bolted to TD motors (euro only) are all 2WD, not sure how this would be affected by the fact that I have an AWD setup...

    the search continues.

my goal is to change the final drive ratios to get me near a TDI setup.
