I've been using this and it helps me tremendously...

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...SIN=B0007CHP6I

As well as doing a warm up as suggested above before the workout (not including warm up sets of the actual exercise)

I've felt that this one helped the most with warming up for squats...

Hit 375x5 on Deadlift with solid form. Morale is high in the gym for me, no injuries, things are looking up.

Failed today on some weak sauce ****. 110lb overhead press failed to get 5 reps (only got 4) on 2 of my last sets. so I got 3x5 and 2x4.

It was definitely a lack of energy and not a lack of strength but I was pretty dissappointed after the gym today. I think waiting 3min in between my sets would have helped squeeze the last 1 out.

About 2 hours later I attempted the same weight and was able to pull off 5 sets of 5. Should I keep the weight the same next workout or add 5lb like normal?

If you did it two hours later then add the 5. You should be able to at least do a 5x3 with the extra 5lbs. That's how I look at it sometimes, if I get the 3 sets plus two warmup sets im happy if it's a new weight. Then I try for a fourth set and take it from there.

    benched 305x5 last night.

I'm staying pretty lean even though with what I'm taking (and eatiing) I should be looking BLOATED. and 2 different guys at the gym last night said I'm looking bigger.

been almost a week with a50 and haven't really felt any different. I expect the storm should be coming on soon

sounds like some kind of PH.
I thought you were against them?

  17. 04-12-2012 03:19 PM #682
def not a PH it's the real deal, and one of the most potent.

I'm not against prohormones really, I'm just against doing something worse when something better is available.

it's like buying a 350z over a 911.... but in this scenario, the 911 is cheaper and you would have to pay more in taxes in maintenance for the 350.

  18. 04-12-2012 09:41 PM #683
so I've been deadlifting for the past couple weeks, 45lb plates on each just to learn form and make sure I'm doing it correctly and safely, but I'll be honest, a 5x5 at 135 absolutely smokes me.

so, I was thinking about picking up a set of light bumper plates and lugging them to the gym with me on DL days, that way the height is right everytime and I can really focus on my form, thoughts??

I think i'm gonna take a vid next week and let you guys tear me apart

  19. 04-12-2012 10:43 PM #684
it's supposed to smoke you dude. it's an awkward movement and quite unnatural. the first few weeks are the hardest while your brain adapts to doing the complex movement. I would stick with it and it'll become easier pretty quickly.

Took a week off to go back east, and drink and eat garbage for 5 days straight. Hit the gym yesterday on squats. Missed one rep compared to two weeks prior. Blame it on lost focus, since it was my second set, and the third set felt great. Regardless, I'm stoked. Down 6 pounds from my last weigh-in. Also did a 5x8 on the leg press after. This morning I felt like I aged 60 years.

Any of yous guys ever have pain in your elbows from squatting? I usually experience some pain right after but this time it's carried over the day after in my right elbow.

My wrists, but only for a minute or two. Definitely not my elbows.

Yes I have the exact same thing happening. I believe for me it's just due to this all being new to my body. The other thing might be form as far as how to grip the bar. It gets bad while I squat to the point where it affects my other lifts (bench, press, row). I guess it's called tennis elbow and pretty common for new lifters.

Ice and ibuprofren and taking a week off to let it heal is what I've read about it.

The pain is wierd it's almost inside the elbow not something you can rub away if that makes sense

I've been low bar squatting, I'm going to try keeping the bar higher on my back and see if that helps. Also I've been really trying to keep my elbows pointed at the ground, gonna let up a little on that.

Widened my grip today and no pain. I made my grip closer last week to help keep my elbows down. Finished 225 3 sets of 5 today with a 185 and 205 warmup. Fighting a groin pull from Tuesday hockey game so I couldn't angle my feet like I should, but I'm happy with the progress. Gonna do a 5x5 with 225 before I add weight.

Snatched 75kg and Clean and jerked 110kg today. Both PRs for me. My snatches really suck, but I had more in me for the clean and jerk, plus we did a TON of sets before we maxed. I was exhausted, and malnourished from the day before (went to a birthday party last night). So I was pretty stoked with my performance. My coach said my clean and jerks were "perfect" and I'll be pulling 200kg within the next 12 months.

Pulling, cleaning or totaling 200 in the next 12 months? Because a 200 kg clean would put you into rarefied air.
