My post wasnt a follow up to yours dras. This a forum, so it's anyone's business. I did however disagree that wanting bigger arms was dumb. tHATS ALL

Finally shot for 5x5 @ 365 dead lifting. Walked away with 5, 4, 3, 2. I could've likely gotten the 1, maybe 2 on the last set, but I got heartburn and felt like I was going to puke for real. It feels like a solid starting point moving up from 3x3'ing it.

However, after that, I'm convinced that my shoulder pain is in fact from dead lifting. I did not feel any pain during the lifts, however I noticed that when I come up and straighten everything out I roll my shoulders back and that's the same motion that, if I perform right now, causes the pain. I must be doing something wrong, I'm going to do some research, but if you've got any tips or have seen this before, lemme know. Thaaaaaaanks

    I agree with this.

spoolin, sorry if it seems like im bashing you. i just think we should reserve judgement/advice until people specifically ask for help. if they are happy and seeing progress, even if its in ways you dont advocate, just let it go. no need to call them names or tell them how stupid they are. when they do come to the forum for help because they are stalling, then you are the guy to ask.

...yesterday I strict OHP 135 5x5. Pretty psyched about that. Now my work sets on every big lift uses at least 1 plate.

I give T a lot of props for calling and telling things how they are. I've been training 17 goddamn years and I still learn new things (important, useful, healthy things) from guys like Tony, my gym owner/coach, and guys in and around my gym. Having access for free to that knowledge is a pretty damn good deal, if you ask me.

My progress has been with the fat grip bar. Nothing too exciting to report as far as weights moved, but it does a great job with my grip, which has been lacking for years. If you have a chance to play with a fat grip bar, I suggest you try it.

The issue wasn't with the facts. It was the way they are delivered.

Chilled, I'm glad you took the cake on inappropriateness in this thread.

2012 progress - I'm back in the gym.

After ~10 months of not seriously working out, I'm back in the game as of today. I've retained a fair amount of muscle mass in that time - I attribute that to remaining somewhat conscience of my diet, but I've definitely packed the fat on over top of it and watched my strength plummet. They say that it comes back quick after you start working out again, hopefully that holds true. While I wasn't putting up records in the gym before (205 5x5 bench, 225 5x5 squat, 335 max deadlift), today was a complete struggle. I barely completed 4 sets of 6 benching 135, and was worthless after that. I'm sure I have some epic soreness coming my way for the next several days... should be fun.

Done with strongman, going to do a men's physique show next April and then again in June, possibly also some natural bodybuilding. Dieting is going to suck. Will be looking to be around 210 on stage probably.
    Here I am between 230-235.

You got it big man, love to show of my package.

I'm just bored of it, I'll go back eventually when I decide to chemically enhance but need a change of pace right now. Was costing a lot of money with basically zero coming back. There are a lot more positive opportunities for me in physique/BB.

Picked up all 5x5 for my squat redemption for the other day...I'm not sure exactly how it all works but the 5x5 plan really is pretty awesome. I'll miss a weight and go back 48 hours later and knock it out.

    Squat 235 5x5
Ohp 125 (missed a few on this one) 5,5,3,2,2
    Deadlift 275 1x5

    An hour in the Xanderzone.

    5x5 with 30 mins cardio

    285 squat
    305 d/l
    135 push press

That dudes fatso thread kinda pushed me to get back in shape. I put on 25lbs with married life, and being lazy.
I've been working out still but my diets sucked ass. Past month my diets been in check. I've been lurking here, not really posting much. Lots of new people

I feel like my inclined work...sucks.

If I have a 1rm of 320 on flat bench, what are some expected numbers for incline BB, DB, and overhead BB, DB?

I'll look for my numbers but I know my seated db overhead press is really hard at 3x8x80, and standing bb is at like 135...I feel like that's low

Maybe your bench is just high? Look on the bright side.

Is that for reps or for one?

My flat bench 1rm is 240. But I can 5x5 135 on OHP.

Been real busy in here I see.
No spotter today, so I went a bit lighter on bench. Did 185 3x8. Then a bunch of 1 reps at 205, with a full 2 second pause at the bottom. I have to work on my grip, or something. Pausing like that gave me a pretty solid ache in my bicep near my elbow. I think I'll have to bring my grip in just a tad, and really tuck my elbows in. Any advice?

Also did farmers walks today for the first time in a while. Did 3 walks, with 90lb dbs. Went about the length of a half court basketball court. Each set, was there and back nonstop. Definitely going to start doing them more. Forgot how much I enjoy them.

Diet is going well. Down to 184.5 today. On average I'm dropping about a half pound a week. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. Strength gains are starting to stall out though. Been real low on the carbs, and found that while my strength is about 95% of what it was when I weighed ~200, I have no where near the endurance.

Getting pretty veiny though. Some striations in my shoulders at times. Upper abs are starting to be visible when flexed, though they are washed out in this picture. I still have a **** ton of fat on my abdomen that I'd like to trim off.

  29. 07-21-2012 11:25 PM #1184
So my coach calls me today and tells me that after training we are going to a car show for and putting on a weightlifting demonstration and I need to squat 400lbs. I've never squatted that much true Olympic style, and I haven't squatted anything over 350 since last September when my nut issues started to bother me.

So anyway after two training sessions (one in the morning one in the afternoon) we go down there and I squat 407 in front of a bunch of people, easy rep. Surprisingly it was the best my knees had felt all day.

Nice job on the deads man. There seems to be a big discrepancy between your wife's bench and deadlift. For example I have a client that pulls similar numbers (she hit 330 in comp last month) and is benching 210ish.

You lost 2 pounds of pure muscle. Sorry to hear that. Really bummed for you!
