**just purchased last Thurs , I'm the 2nd owner - guess the first owner(s) had matching ones, also Kirkland locals but worked in Seattle area I think - lots af Carter VW paperwork. He still has his apparently, pretty modded from what the dealer guys told me, his wife/GF traded her stock one in on a Fiat Abarth...and then I purchased hers the next day.

..and no, I didn't sniff the seats.

Thanks guys! I wouldn't be surprised if I started running into more and more of you- there do seem to be quite a few of us in the area.

I've already spotted and been spotted by 2-3 different ones in the Kirkland area since purchase.

Moving to the area and wondering what kind of tires people are running since I'm in need of new ones. Does the rainy weather necessitate uhp all seasons or do people still run summer tires?

I live in Arizona. I am up in Woodinville for the Summer working on my rental house. My r is up in Canada at HPA getting some post turbo install TLC.

I used to live in WA., all I could remember is grey skies and horrible rain, tons of rain, roads always wet and slippery.

I was up last year, came up in May. I was here 4 days, fell off the roof and broke my femur. I got back up here July 8th this year. I have to say that the weather is nothing like I remember. It has been dry as a bone and sunny almost every day (good thing too because I am working on the exterior).

So, based on my past experience and present, this nice weather here cannot last, soon the depressing ever-present rain will come and you will need FULL WETS.

I've read competing things on different forums regarding the best tire for wet conditions, but most seem to point out that All-Seasons are actually no better and sometimes worse than summer tires for wet conditions.

Does their ultra high performance rating matter in negating those statements?

Maybe you could spend some time on the Tire Rack web site. They test the tires they sell in both dry and wet conditions and rate them. Also, there are actual consumer comments that you can read.

That's not my experience... All weather work when the rubber is cold...

The generals I was talking about are the top Ultra High Performance All Season tire for the $$$

The second and third numbers are hydroplaning and wet traction respectively...

When the Goodyears wore out I replaced with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus from Costco. Dry weather turn-in is not as crisp as the Goodyears (or other summer/dry tires) as expected, but not super noticeable at moderate cornering G's. So far the wear seems good. I got caught in the snow/ice last winter and between the tires and the awd I got up n down the hills getting home quite well. Not the same as a dedicated snow tire but quite good for an all-around, all-year tire.

Hey so I am looking to do a little photo shoot with my car before the weather gets to bad. Where do you think would be the best backround. Preferably with some iconic seattle land mark. Where do you guys think would be best and actually doable. Thanks

Just parked my DBP R sleeper next to a reflex silver R with Kamei grill and some sort of 3 piece wheels at Home Depot in SODO. Anyone on here? Car looked pretty clean.
