nice build! its a shame to see that ginster being dismembered too looks like its in better shape then mine .
believe me, that ginster isn't in good shape. a big dent on each side, rust in the gas cap area, and other damage.
its a great donor, and it sounds like the remaining shell is going to be made into a 1/4 mile car or something. and it gets it out of my hands quickly when its a rolling shell. the guy doing the paint guy is going to take the GTI as part of the payment.
so today i picked up a used tectonics exhaust with borla muffler, and my new OEM grey cloth top and dropped that with a bunch of other stuff off to Parts Score that is doing the labor.
we have been told that the car will leave the paint place tomorrow around noon and be at the shop shortly after that. the paint has taken 2 weeks longer than expected because of some unknown hail damage, and fender roller delay, and other work the guy had to do.
so as of now we will have less than 5 weeks to get it all together, running, assembled, air'd out, and top installed. the hard thing is that it can't be worked on every day because of time and job constraints for the two guys doing the work.
I have confidence it will be done and have been assured that it will be ready for Wuste.
oh and i picked these up today but there are some drips and runs and some light areas and i'll have to get them fixed Monday.
16x9 Gotti J55 because the 1552 wheels won't be available in time.
oh and i just got the stupid corvette emblems off the center caps. going to have a custom vinyl logo of some type made for them.

the moment and pictures i have been waiting for, for 8 weeks now
the car will get towed to Parts Score today and the painter will let the guys know there some details, and even offered to help out with reassembly of some stuff.
the color is IMO freakin amazing.
I am so happy right now its not funny
Im so jealous Brian it looks great! I dont even feel worthy to have my car next to that.
and tony your Jetta is super sick and I'll gladly park my car next to yours man.
thanks guys. I am getting stressed because of the time crunch to put it all together.
I leave May 31st to make the 4 hour drive to Vegas for Wuste2012. Lots to do in 30 days but i have huge confidence in all that are doing the work.
Apparently a good amount was done today as far as body trim, door handles, and window regulator
And I missed out on a black boot cover for the top. Still looking for one.

I finally got to see the car in person today. It is at Parts Score, the shop doing the mechanical work.
the pics will show it's current state. Jason that is working on it was up until 2am this morning pulling the dashes out of both the GTI and the Cabrio so both cars look like a bomb went off.
I have to say, in person, the color is AMAZING!!! Josh the painter will need to come back and wet sand/ buff it out after most of the mechanical work is done, but overall the car looks amazing. His welding and smoothing can't be detected and the quality of the paint work is awesome. he really did a good job and the extra time he had it was worth it.
onto the pics
Thats my TT in the background.
and a video with some lame narration

any suggestions on tail lights?
i don't like the all red, and i could use the ones from the GTI but the drivers side has about a 2" crack in it.
what would look good on this color?
Brian i demand more pictures. DEMAND damn it
those are all the pics i have for now Tony. sorry.
