Those lightly smoked/clear tails would look nice on the car, especially if you're doing smoked ecodes on the front.

I don't think they're made by Hella, though.

Your tailights are not 'all reds' and if anyone is trading US spec golf tail for smoked.. they are probably just Hella US spec GTI tail lights like you already have on your donor car.

As discussed in your other thread.. these are Hella Smoked after a little surgery to remove orange filter from turn signal.

Yep iam...... true friends help each other I pulled the plug on my car it's not going to be ready the way I want it to be this show season so why not help somebody make there dreams come true now. My time to shine well come next season hopefully.

if you look at the 3 pictures above, the first one is the bay without the harness, the 2nd is the harness from the VR6, and the 3rd pic is the bay with the harness in it (look on right side).

they fully cleaned up the harness while it was out, made any necessary repairs and fixes to make it nice just in case something happened in the future, and installed it along with the 3 pedals for the transmission swap.

and, with all of this tail light bantering, TayMK2 went to remove the lights today for me, and the whole custom stereo box in his car was actually built blocking access to the tail lights. so they have to stay in the car. something we both thought was funny. I have a backup plan though.

yeah i am busy. I get two days off a week like everyone else, those days are normally thursday/Friday. But the car business doesn't have set hours and i typically cannot leave on time. Plus the shop where the car is at is about 45 miles from my house, so its not easy to get there before or after work.

I did remove the interiors from both cars, which i was able to do in my driveway, but all of the other stuff, i would literally slow the other guys down if i was there "helping". Believe me i have a ton of interest in how all if it comes apart and goes back together, but logistically it isn't very possible for me.
plus the people on the East coast and midwest have cold winters to build their cars for months. In Arizona it never gets bad during the winter, so we really don't have "down" months.
I bought the Cabrio January 1st, and it will be done to leave for Wuste on May 31st. That is 6 months, but i didn't own the GTI until early February. So the timeline is incredibly condensed and add on top of that it couldn't be worked on every day. One of the guys working on it is a full time technician, and the other guy has to also work on other cars at the shop.

what is getting done in that short period of time:
vr6 swap
trans swap
full air suspension install
paint color change (shaved trunk, fenders, engine bay, new bumpers, grill, moldings, handles)
interior converted to all black
front and rear seats re-upholstered along with shift boot and e-brake boot
brand new OEM top
New headlights, fog lights, intake manifold, oil pan, shift knob, rebar, core support, maintenance parts
16" Gotti wheels with color matched centers, repolished lips, new hardware, straightened barrels, new tires
strip window tint, apply new tint, get hood and front bumper, mirrors clear bra'd
9 weeks of the car being at the paint shop
full wire harness swap retaining all features of both the GTI and the Cabrio (taking a lot of brain power)
5 lug conversion with GTI brake swap
new tie rods, ball joints, control arm bushings, strut mounts
Non-ABS conversion
re-route power steering and fuel lines, coil pack relocate
install new Headunit and speakers
install sound deadening all over the place
install new carpet
new exhaust with down pipe (found out it was cracked today)

That is what i can think of off the top of my head. there are a ton of other smaller things i didn't list.

The 5 lug conversion and axle swap was completed today, and the wire harness is almost done i've been told. and Jason is taking a ton of pictures he said but isn't sending them to me so he can upload them in batches on Facebook.

The goal is to have the engine in by Saturday, and then Sat/Sunday is the air suspension install.

unfortunately the only place i can find them is from BFI and they are out of stock and i need something within the next 2 weeks to be here at my door but don't want to spend a bunch of money.
