Synro rear beam questions

Happy new year to all!
I'm swapping a passat syncro rear beam into a mk2 jetta coupe. As of right now I need to take the rear beam apart and send it out for sand blasting. I was hoping that someone can point me in the right direction as to where I can get new bushings, bearings and what ever else I may need to make the rear to as new condition as possible. I also wanted to know what's involved in converting from 4x100 to 5x100 bolt pattern besides wheel adapters (i just find them a hastle to deal with). I will post more questions and also pictures as I go along.....hint hint hint...awd longitudinal Vr6

powerflex sells poly bushings for the trailing arms and rear beam mounting points, here are the part numbers.

PFR85-262
PFR85-260

~$200 for everything you need.

i'm only starting to dig into it as i just got my syncro on monday, but iirc, you can press in regular old 5x100 front hubs into the rear control arms, you'd just have to swap outer CVs tho for vr6 items due to the different spline. that said, the ABS tone ring sits on the outer CV on a syncro. you may need some machining. if you don't have abs, then not an issue. you're on your own for the braking part of that swap, i'm sticking with 4x100 on mine so i don't know.

the above is only a semi educated guess based on the mr. potato head-ness of the rest of the car. i haven't gotten a chance to take my stuff apart yet and really compare yet. i'm sure the answers are out there though.

The rear beam bushing is wrong for the north American models. Your better of using the syncro rear brake system since th spindal is the same, no drilling rotors and figuring spacers

To cut in boner's rite powerflex is the way to go and its good to see another queens dude doing an awd swap im in the proses of lookin for a syncro rear myself so i can start working on my mk2 jetta over this winter. Sure they are
But they don't work on the main rear beam
I have done this swap and been thru it all. I even ordered these bushing to find out they are wrong
But it's up to you. You. Can learn the hard way and in your own.

Sorry TBT-Syncro old great one I was just trying to say that power flex makes parts for syncro rear beams thats all but ill kick back and learn from a master witch i need to do so when i get to mine i dont have the same problems

at the risk of beating a dead horse, what makes them not fit? diameters not right? different heights?

They are a smaller diameter. I bought a set a while back and had to make sleeves for the subframe to make them fit.

the ones we had were also too tall, as a result the rear beam wouldnt sit up high enough.

There is someone out there that makes it for the mk3 syncro and as I understand they fit the passat frame. You can also make some or go with OE

i'm getting a set of solid aluminum ones made. i've got the diameter but i was too efficient at cleaning up the garage and tossed the original rubber bushings before measuring how thick are they so that i can get it positioned proplerly? i don't have the additional bracket that goes on top (bottom when mounted) of the beam so i have no method of accuratly figuring that out.

is it advisable for a track car to mount it as high as possible therefor reducing the overall hieght of the bushing? i have the freedom to do this as it's a track car (nothing in the way) and i don't have said second bracket, i can make my own any way i want.

BTW, for future reference for others, the hole in the passat syncro beam is 62mm dia. it measures out .1-.3mm less on mine because of rust and flaking paint. i'm going to clean it up though and re-measure. critical to get it right as i intend to have these bushings press fit....
