Thread: New GTI owner.....lovin' it

  1. 01-04-2012 03:04 PM #1
I bought a used 2010 GTI with 37k on it. I am loving the ride, more than I even anticipated. It has the DSG, and I enjoy the multitude of ways I can choose to drive this vehicle.

I do have one issue of concern that I would like some feed back on. Occassionally, when driving hard, the car makes a horrible studder and doesn't accellerate. It's almost as if the vehicle misses a shift and is governing itself quickly and harshly. I haven't had enough concentration to check RPM's when it does it.

It feels horrible, scares me and makes me wonder what i'm doing, what I need to get checked, or if this is something others have experienced.

    Pic for good measure.

Ouch. Purchased a DSG GTI right before it's 40k DSG maintenance.

Have them check it out but they're more than likely going to tell you to do the 40k as they told me a few years back.

    Man..you guys are fast.

I took it to a dealer prior to purchase...and they informed me of the DSG 40k maintenance.

I'm under the impression that fluids/maintenance will be $450'ish. I'm ok with that.

I'm overly hopeful now, that I don't have a dsg problem.

    Thanks.

    Right.
So I'm hoping that a low tank may be a common thread here. The two main times this has happened i noticed i was low on fuel. I'm sure I'm grasping.

Try to avoid running your car below 1/4 tank. Running really low is not good for the fuel system in general, and 1/4 tank will give you a nice safety margin.

Did you put on the BBS CH's or did it come with those? Nice!

This is what I was hoping to see!

BBS's came on it. It has the autobahn leather. I was sold.

On another note and why I brought up fuel. When driving to the bar, on low fuel, I got the same nasty feeling while not shifting. I was in tiptronic and the car just studdered horribly, so there was no shift taking place. Pulled over immediately, applied fuel and NO issue since. I will report back and still get an appointment for Dsg under maintenance.

    Thanks

I love my car. Still acts up with anything less than a quarter of a tank. All other times......it's a 200hp beast.

Screwing with everything on the road.

    Ahhhh....what a ride.
I've less than 10k posts....so be sure to ignore me.
