Lots of people use muffler/resonator interchangeably. I'm not sure if that's correct or if the Magnaflow resonator is actually called a resonator or a muffler. But yeah there is either a muffler or resonator at the bend in the above pic. I usually associate a muffler with being all the way at the end of the exhaust, near the tips (e.g., suitcase muffler).

I put it on in the winter, and before that it was used by another member for a few months. I wash the car and clean the tips at least once per week

Will removing the resonator on the stock exhaust help at all or be worse for performance? Or be the same? i dont really want to spend alot of money on exhaust and dont want it too loud just alittle bit. So i was thinking to remove the resonator and get different exhaust tips. Will i lose performance though?

Why is that i thought removing just the resonator on the stock exhaust is not as loud as the apr turboback or other turboback exhaust

Does anyone run with Eurojet V-Banded 3" downpipe and magnaflow catback? Do they fit well with each other? Thank you.

Installed the Magnaflow on my otherwise stock 2012 GTI this past weekend.

Jury's still out. Sound quality isn't fantastic, and it's a bit boomy between 1500-3000rpm when you give it a bit of gas.

    Hey fellas,

so after perusing this thread, I'm super torn between the apr tbe and the eurojet.

I really like the sound of the apr, but am not a fan of the price. Also the fitment issues make me nervous. The fact that it sits low and may be a bit difficult to install, because i will be attempting to do it myself.

The eurojet seems pretty great as well, decent price, seems to fit well and looks pretty good. But i want that sound that stands out and im wondering if the EJ is too tame for my liking. cant get over the apr sound.

any thoughts comparing these two directly?

I'm thinking of buying a down pipe soon & i was looking at the billy boat one. any videos or opinions on how that would sound combined with a 42 dd catback?

I have the APR TBE and I honestly can't reccomend it. The downpipe is great but the catback just isn't worth it IMO. The APR catback is ridiculously expensive for something that is barely louder than stock. The best I could get the fitment was one tip sticking out 1/4" more than the other. I ended up spending another $225 at an exhaust shop to remove the forward resonator and cut/reweld the hangars so that the rear section sits higher and is even.

My advice is get the APR downpipe and get a custom catback. This is the first car I ever bought an off the shelf exhaust for and I will never do it again. Custom exhausts fit better and you can get whatever sound you want, whatever tips you want, etc. Plus the fitment will be better. Chances are it will be less expensive too.

had my magnaflow CBE installed a couple of days ago. It sounds great, low deep tone, not overly loud but when you rev it to 5K and up it sounds awesome. I will get a video up as soon as I can.
