remote won't lock doors on 2000 jetta 2.0

Hello VW gurus, I just recently purchased a 2000 mk4 jetta 2.0 (100,000 o the clock) and noticed the lights will "flash" when pressing the lock on BOTH remotes, but the car will not lock--then opening the doors will set off the alarm--so am I dealing with a bad fuse? batteries or reprogramming? Trying to avoid Mr Volkswagon for that always equal $$$$ coming out pocket! Thanks.


Also the glove box looks to have broken, is this a quick fix also? Again, thanks...

Check your lock assembly, could be loose solder or bad micro switches. Could also be good switches but worn out plastic rub piece.
