We've seen all kinds of automotive components being used as home decorations and sculptures.

How about some more practical applications of car parts that people use on a day-to-day basis in their homes?

I'll start with this brilliant example:

Careful you don't overboost and blow a seal while you're sitting on the can.

Cool thread idea. I like some of those tables made from engine blocks and such, like on top gear

Reminds me of all those independent auto parts stores with piston ashtrays and mechanics who use car bench seats for waiting room furniture.

For years, we had a Christmas tree self-waterer that my dad built out of our old Chevrolet's coolant overflow bottle and auto tubing. To keep it from being too ghetto, Mom made a fake giftwrapped box to cover it.

I had a '66 beetle mirror taped to my monitor at work for a short while. No pics, but you get the idea. If you've ever worked in one of those cubicles where your back faces the "door" you'll probably understand why.

I have an old MK4 2.slow OEM camshaft. I've been keeping it and secretly thinking of turning it into a desk lamp.

All it takes is some flat steel and a couple bolts.

In our travels, I can't tell you how many "homes" we have seen landscaped with tires and variations thereof (especially in the Southeastern quadrant of the country):
