i owned a 1990 s13 coupe SOHC but it had the welded j30 diff along with headers, full pipe, etc and i can say from experience that 240's are great and fun cars but i had to go back to volkswagen

I have the biggest POS S13 silvia you've ever thought of. The car was given to me for free and I am using it for use at the local rally-x.
The previous owners have swapped the Silvia nose for a rusted 240sx front. The broke 80% of the bolts in the process also. They removed the heater core, and most of the dash wiring and window wiring.
Good news there is a beautifully running rb20 under the hood.

Well boys heres the plan for body work:

      1. Patch the holes with sheet metal or buy wide body pannels to weld in.
      2. Paint it olive drab
      3. add a pin up girl
      4. Traffic cone kill count on the side. Some fender flairss will be used.

So long as its water tight and mostly there im kool with it. I found a turbo kit for the KA for 500 bucks sans intercooler and boost controller. I am probably going to do that!

I actualy just bought a s13 coupe 100% stock with 115k a few weeks ago for 600$ Running and rusty so much fun, I put some cheap ebay coilovers, and welded my diff, this car is alot fun/better than my 04 r32 , I plan on selling my R and just keeping the 240 as my daily/fun car.

Come spring I'll finish her up.

You are in Canada - you should have just bought this an imported car. You are going to be well past $8k fixing that and doing a motor swap.

      LOL at volvo trolls

      Anyway, do the following:

-Cut your rust out and put on big overfenders
      -Either KA-T or RB25
-9k dildo shifters are bosstown, I has one
-Keep it Zenki, don't be a f4ggo+. Zenki is so much cooler.
-Get TRA aero on Zilvia. $1750 shipped for f/s/r + wing!
-Paint crazy sparkle/flake purple or something. 240s should be painted like bass boats.
-Keep the full interior. Stripped cars suck. Yay street cars

Here's mine, which I'm currently trying to sell for an E36/E46 vert. 240's are best when you make them look like crazy spaceships and I can't get away with that anymore.

I've got like a billion other parts for it, but I've just done this dance too many times. Want to buy some Work CR Kais? LOL.

KA-T is a PITA and expensive if done right. Skip the RB25 for a RB26. Byt the time you get done screwing with the manifold + FMIC, Crank-Collar and upgrading your tubo you'd been better off.

-9k dildo shifters are bosstown, I has one
horrible for drifting, it will wear out your bearings twice as fast - ask any real drifter

-Keep it Zenki, don't be a f4ggo+. Zenki is so much cooler.
I actually agree. Zenki is so JDM classy, Kouki is played out, over agressive and lame

-Get TRA aero on Zilvia. $1750 shipped for f/s/r + wing!
      I like DMAX better

-Paint crazy sparkle/flake purple or something. 240s should be painted like bass boats.
      Agreed. See links below.

Agreed. You can delete the rears and find other ways to save weight, but gutted looks and sounds like ass.

OP your car is a pile right now - put on the big-boy pants and go balls deep. Big Wheels, Big Paint, Big Body kits.

Thanks for the few words of encouragement, I think im just going to buy an ebay turbo kit for the KA24, 700 bucks including turbo and an IC? I am down.....

My s13 was far worse. had it not been backed into I would have finished it.

    24. 01-07-2012 09:46 PM #59
      O/P:

Join Zilvia, or Nico, or any 240 site. I'll be the first to tell you that they are money pits, and are often rotted out junk piles. Consider what your goal is with the car, and go from there. I'm a 240 owner, and a fan of them, however I'll be the first to tell you that they take a good deal of money to fix and to get back into proper shape.

My advice? Stay with the KA, build and boost. Cheap, reliable, and parts are easy to find. SR20DET's spin cylinder 3 rod bearings like it's their job. If you do go with an SR, mate the KA transmission to the SR bell housing. The S14 KA has a much stronger transmission (engine internals too!). The S13 KA and SR share the same transmission, sans bell housing.

9K makes those dildo shifters, I have one of their stickers on my rear window still, haha. Joey is a really good guy.
-SR Transmissions are actually beefier inside, dispite what forum folklore has lead you to believe
-SR's may spin rod bearings, but only on those who beat on them without oil, or have bought engines from overseas and never checked them out
-S13 vs S13 KA internals are equally weak.
-9k Racing are a bunch ofbull****ters that were exposed for being such, through a hissy fit, and subsequently got banned from Zilvia.

Cliffs: If you're going to give 240 advice, know what you're talking about.

LOL which Dmax kit is cooler than TRA?

Besides, Dmax has ceased to be, at least in the US and I think in Japan also. Really tough to get that **** anymore.

I like Vertex Lang but it's spendy, if OP was going to buy Lang OP would've bought a nicer car.

w/e on the shift knobs, I like it to tower.

RPF1's are sort of awful, but the rest of that car is nice. That thing needs WMB-finished XT7's or some other concave badassery.

Also: cages in street cars are dumb. Cage = helmet. Stay street.

I always liked Type-1, it just feels "period correct".

OP- I don't know why but I never mind trying to save a car that's pretty far gone. I guess I feel like if I'm saving it from the scrap pile that I should have free reign to do whatever I want with it. Have fun and get fender flares.
The good news: I gave up on being one of the cool kids!

If I could have afforded the kouki, I would have but i couldnt. An LS-1 is out I want to keep it nismo. A KA-T seems to be the way to go.

The car will get cleaned up then driven arround like a rockt ship.

You realize a KA-T will set you back $4k easy to "DIR".
