Caddy is going to kill it with this. It doesnt matter if its the best or not, something about cadillac has always attracted people, even in their worst years.

Oh yeah. I totally see how this looks exactly like the ATS's dash.

Guys... I think he is actually complaining about the instrument CLUSTER. He probably chose the wrong word when he wrote PANEL.

I, too, cannot tell whether it is as boring as the vague photos indicate. The flat, blank, panel with cut-outs for the gauge scale somewhat reminds me of this...

I think the complaint probably revolves around the seemingly... dull instrument cluster fascia when contrasted with how nice everything else is. Hard to tell, but I hope it isn't another example of old-school, GM, half-bakeology.

What I haven't read about is that opening above the instrument cluster binnacle in some photos.

I don't drive luxury cars, so I am not sure if a lot of them have sensors, etc. there these days and that this is more of the same. I hope it is a HUD. I am not into frills like that, but it would be funky.

      Furthermore...

I wish Cadillac would distinguish their V Series by making the wreath around the emblem in the shape of a big, wide "V" for V Series vehicles... and maintain the circular form for non-V. I think that would be unique, because I really HATE the derivative colored squares they use in the V Series emblem today. [thesteve, if you are reading this... please tell your big boss!]

Most probably a HUD. If it is, I hope there is a "black panel" button like on some previous GM cars.

it is a HUD i believe. Its prolly gonna look the same as the one shown in the XTS. The earlier poster who was talking about the instruments was prolly referring to the gauge cluster; which like i said before, is the only part of the car im worried about

When I first saw this car I thought "meh," but after some time and seeing all of these new pictures, I'm really starting to like it!

After how CRISP and full of detailing the current CTS was when intro'd, I think it was natural for many here to this ATS.

But when you think about the role of the ATS (i.e. direct competitor to C Class, 3 Series, A4, IS, G) you realize that the need to SOFTEN the things that polarizes with the CTS must be toned down a notch. Afterall... it's not like the 3 Series, C Class, & A4 are styling dynamos. They tend to be mildly-stylized, but with great proportions and clean, yet handsome forms (i.e. Not average or boring by any regard, but by no means something that will command $2M 50 years from now at Barrett Jackson.).

This class is obviously the highest volume seller globally and when one considers that pleasing a larger clientelle is important... it is understandable that it was toned down.

Personally I love the current C Class in every way styling wise. And the ATS, although somewhat similar to some is in its own way very Cadillac A&S still.

It is so refreshing that we enthusiasts have so many choices today!

i am a really big fan of the C class as well...kinda why i pushed my Dad to get one after he had exhausted all his other options. The interior is really amazing on the new C's

I was reading in Automobile that the 2.0T ATS weighs less than the BMW 328i (the new Turbo 4 one).
      it's under 3400lbs, apparently.

I think they mentioned the 200hp 2.0L is even lighter.

Nice to see such a lightweight, RWD chassis from the General, especially after seeing the heavy ass Camaro

My guess it that it will be early summer if they put pre-production vehicles in the press fleet. Otherwise it could be August before we see production versions tested.

I was just reading through the specs and it looks like tires are going to be expensive on the FE3 suspension models with the combination of run-flats in 225/40's up front and 255/35's in the rear, meaning you can't rotate the tires for longer life. Just something to keep in mind.
