Me and my wife are looking to buy another VW. But this time were going to go diesel for her. She just learned how to drive stick so I have a few questions. Should we go with a manual transmission or automatic? Any perks or problems with either? Also we're looking at a 2011 golf tdi and a 2006 jetta tdi. Idk the mileage on either but the jetta their asking 12500 and it has some body/interior flaws so I'll try to talk them down on that and the golf is flawless as far as I can see. Any opinions on first time diesel buyers???

As to not start another thread with a question that might be along the OP's line of interest anyway - this is my first winter driving a TDI. Should I be plugging it in nightly once the temperature starts getting lower so I don't have any issues in the morning?

Typically 5spds always get better mileage than autos. Although the new dsg autos are pretty great. If your looking for a fun car pg's, def do a 5spd.

To the other guy, you have an electrical heater in ur cr tdi.. No need to plug it in unless u want it to heat up quicker for better mpg's.
