Great work man!!! Just wondering if you will have enough clearance for your thermostat housing?

whats your major problem? have you looked at the vr6 vanagon tstat housing? it sticks out about as far but has a 90 degree turn on the end. not sure if that helps you, it did not for me. i basically made my own flange and had a 90 welded on it so it sits closer to the block.

Def wont help me. This is my clearance to the crossmember. Im in the works of notching that beam to fit the housing in. The motor is exactly in the spot I want it but the bus says no I saw the cradle that james did and he did a great job. I am looking to do something a little different on mine.Check my sig for my bus build.

Looking at 1974 911... if the plan moves forward it would be done as a reversible swap and I would put the air cooled engine in dry storage. That way from a collector standpoint I wouldn't be hog tied if a time to sell came along. Would likely do a full rebuild on the aircooled engine if the vr6 did find it's way in.

oh yeah an older one like that will save you a bundle. also i haven't done anything so far that wouldn't be reversible except the rad mount in front but that would be easy enough to get around.

Plan is to pick up tomorrow... I'll start a thread if / when I start this winter. Have a lot of plans for reversible mounts looking at the flat six in there. I really like the flat six but the cost to operate or repair for many might cost a few of these cars their lives...

In my professional experience multiplying your best estimate by Pi (3.14159) tends to be a good out the door number at a project closes.

I'm pretty close now as I have ~$10g of this in my Jetta that I'm about to raid... just waiting for the salt and snow to fly so I have an excuse to be in the garage.

I was thinking this too. The VC you want is from a MK4 VR6..12 valve. It will give you plenty of clearance

thats cheap. i could've saved some cash but i wanted to replace everything on this car while i had the chance. also the older chassis is going to be cheaper to deal with. New door seals alone on my car is $700 lol

Amazing how much room there is behind the motor without the cooling fan that would normally be there.

The renegade hybrids front rad setup is $2g... however it appears you could fit something in back there and save a wad of cash.
