Achtuning's Hartmann turbo-back exhaust for the Golf R is done! We're picking up the car now and driving it back home to Seattle over the weekend. I'm told there will even be an appearance at one of the gatherings tonight at Wuste in Vegas on the way up so if any of you guys are there, be sure to check it out!

im no exhaust engineer, but that seems like the right price point to me. nothing against any other companies at all, but id be maxed out around $1400. you dont really get much from the cat back on these cars from what i see other than a bit of great sound. i cant justify an extra $1500 from my 42DD downpipe for a bit of sound.

im not trying to slam anyone here at all. just my opinion.

Will this be compatible with the Australian Golf R DSG Model? I only ask because APR here is asking $3100 for a full turbo-back exhaust. If shipping isn't $1,000 you might have a new customer.

There shouldn't be a fitment issue with a DSG-equipped car, but we don't have any here to absolutely guarantee that. We also do not ship overseas but we do have a Hartmann Wheel distributor there you can contact about sharing freight space on any of his incoming orders from the US? (contact me via email for his info)

The Golf R made it back and sounds AMAZING!! An iPhone sound clip won't do this justice so thanks in advance for your patience as I wanna do this right and get some professional sound clips done, perhaps even a video of the car. The tone is nice and DEEP. Bill tells me there's a bit of a drone between 3200-3500 rpm on deceleration, nothing a simple gear or throttle change won't cure. I really don't see how anyone can go wrong with this system. A couple of other key features to note about the Hartmann Golf R Turbo-back exhaust is that it has adjustable tips, and we will offer different tip options with this system. These features will be exclusive to the Hartmann Golf R exhaust.

As soon as he caught wind that the APR RSC turbo-back exhaust for the Golf R was in stock, Chris set-up an appointment and came in right away. The Golf R is arguably one of the best little "packages" right out of the box, and the ECU upgrade we installed on his Golf R a couple of months ago completely transformed it into a monster but news about the gains expected when adding an exhaust made Chris itch for more. The installation requires an ECU "Stage 2" software upgrade and adds about 10-15 extra hp, definitely a noticeable difference in power and a slightly louder tone to let everyone know what's coming.





Chris says, "that's it!" but we'll just have to wait and see...

Threw on the European Golf R bumper we just got in to test-fit prior to paint. Car is going in for paint today and should be done in a couple of days. We'll update again when it's done.

We've just received the Gen4 Switchable Stock/Race/Eco Haldex Controller and not wasting any time, we're throwing it in the Achtuning Golf R to try out for our next track session this weekend. Haldex based all wheel drive systems monitor ABS speed sensors, throttle input, steering angle, etc. to anticipate and distribute torque transfer from the engine to the drive-line. Haldex upgrades such as the one we are installing will allow us to select a pre-programmed setting which will alter the time in which the system reacts to these dynamic changes, creating a more aggressive handling characteristic. The included wireless remote and receiver will allow us to engage the 3 pre-programmed settings described below.

Eco: Eco mode was developed for increased fuel efficiency. Its purpose is to reduce the torque transfer from front to rear during normal highway driving (coasting), but will immediately engage the system if a wheel starts to slip to prevent decreased traction situations.

Stock: As you'd expect, a standard mode that is similar to the original setting in the vehicle.

Race: Race mode will unleash further potential as it provides faster reaction time to vehicle inputs in the AWD communication system, and allows for even greater amounts of torque transfer to the rear axle.

Install is pretty straight forward as you start by replacing the stock Haldex unit with the upgrade.





We then feed the wiring harness for the wireless receiver up through the belly pan located in the trunk, plug it into the receiver and tuck the receiver away neatly in one of the spare tire cover "compartments" before calling it a day.

A VWR short-shift kit also made its way into the Achtuning Golf R today. Here it is below sitting next to an OEM one for comparison. The VWR kit is an OEM-like upgrade in that it feels OEM smooth but offers up to a 25% reduction in throw with it's adjustable linkage.
