After Infiniti, Kia also dropped a single picture of one of its world debuts, the brand new cee'd hatchback.

The second generation of Kia's entry in the highly popular C-segment is aimed squarely against the likes of the Volkswagen Golf, Renault Megane and Ford Focus.

Seen here in five-door trim, the compact hatchback sports a new design with styling elements from the Optima and an angrier front end with comparatively large headlamps – apparently, the latest BMW 1-Series started a new trend…

Kia has not yet divulged any other details on the new cee’d, but the Korean company said that the five-door model will be available across Europe from the second quarter of 2012 with UK deliveries expected to start from June.

Supposedly, yes--we will be getting one car this time rather than two separate ones.

I'd get excited, but know full well Kia will limit the hatch in the US to automatic-only.

How fast is it compared to the old one around the Top Gear test track?

Remember, the Top Gear version is saddled with an anemic 1.6L.
The US wshould still get the 2.0 and 2.4's.

It's an evolution of the original Cee'd (circa late 2006), and progressions of the Pro cee'd (3dr), from 2007 or so.

I have always liked the design of the Cee'd. Hopefully we'd get it here in the states at some point.

    ^ LOL!

Have to say, the front is a bit underwhelming; neither the shape of the headlights or the foglamps is particularly pleasing.

Supposedly the next Procee'd will get a more sleek/aggressive design treatment so there is that.

This belongs near the bottom w/ the Forte sedan in what has come out of the Schreyer-led studio.
Why you wouldn’t (buy an Optima SX):

Because you have your eyes on the Frigidaire Limited Edition Camry that you saw last weekend at the neighborhood Autoplex

^ The side and rear are better; shame about the front.

I take back what I said about the front; in these photo shots, the front looks great (so much for the crappy previous images).

It's the rear that doesn't look as good (would've been better if the lines for the taillights were cleaner/simpler).

So what's wrong w/ that; after all, Toyota is fleet queen down under.

And I'm betting that the new i30 and cee'd will put a serious hurt on Toyota in Europe.

KIA Cee'd is not going to be sold over here so i30 and Corolla are safe for now. That's why I said "Brits will love this".

I didn't say anything about the cee'd in Australia; hence me stating that the new i30 and cee'd putting a hurt on Toyota in Europe.

You said "Down Under". The only other country I know which falls under that name is New Zealand, but them Kiwis can be safely ignored.

Actually Fifth gear panned it for not being that great. surprising given all the hoopla here, I thought it would have done better.

You do understand the whole concept about sentences and how one sentence could be about one thing and a second sentence about something else.

And I even separated them out in their own paragraphs (hint, the 2nd sentence has nothing to do w/ the 1st).

Looks pretty good. Not totally sold on the rear end, but it wouldn't be a dealbreaker if I was looking to get a 4dr hatch. Glad to see manual trans is still offered.

    But...

All I can say is it looks par for the course. I suppose Kia will pack mucho value in it compared to their competition. On the other hand where the blank did they get that name from?

Looks fantastic, but I bet the next Pro Cee'd is going to be even better still, considering the old one looks like this
