    a.) Jack Stands.

c.) Ratchet Kit. Really like the Wera tools, but I'm not sure what size is appropriate as price fluctuates quite a bit. I was thinking the 3/8" would be ideal.

If your working on a vw your gonna need a good set of torx bits... As far as brand I only buy snap-on, but they're a little expensive for the weekend warrior.

I got a bunch of stuff at Harbor Freight, comes with warranty and cheap. Torx set 10-50 should be good. Also the plastic pry tool set and a triple square tool.

I will be installing the right side steering wheel controls and I have one really dumb question, one kinda dumb question, and one not so dumb question.

    (dumb)
Do I need to disconnect the battery before removing my airbag.
    (kinda dumb)
If I have to have the battery disconnected for the airbag, should I leave it unhooked while installing the right side controls on the steering wheel and putting the airbag back on.
    (not so dumb)
If I unhook the battery do I need the radio code to get my tunes back.

No need to disconnect the battery, just keep the ignition off, and the key out while you're working.
It is recommended to disconnect the ground cable.

If you do, you won't need the radio code. You'll only have it disconnected for 20 minutes at most

Completely off topic but no better place to ask. Wheres the black jetta thread? I was away for a month and just got back and can't seem to find it. Yes I've searched but haven't found it. Not even under my subscriptions.

    No. Mk4s are 5x100.
    Mk5 & Mk6 are 5x112.

I have a question for all that have 18" or 19" aftermarket wheels with stock brakes on your jetta..is there a big difference in braking power or stopping distance?

I will be removing my fog light covers in order to replace the lower grill and I would like to know what is the best tool to remove them?

Pry tools? Flat head screwdrivers wrapped with masking tape?

I use the pry tools from harbor freight. I tried to use screwdriver before I got them and messed up the paint on the inside of the cover. Be careful if you bend the bumper too much the paint comes off in big chunks

Start at the top. And If you are going to remove the lower center be very careful.

While looking for one online, I came across a thread in the GolfMK6.com forum where some people were having issues with fitting the oil cap correctly and actually had to make some adjustments for the cap to fit. Find this hard to believe, but would like for someone to shed some light on this before I spend 40 bucks. So does anyone know if the cap will fit the 2.0 TSI without modification??Thanks in advance!

I change mine every 5k with dealer oil and OE filter. 10k OCI's will never sit well with me.

    ^ This.
I plan on doing a change w/filter at 5k, and then 10k maintenance thereafter. Always synthetic, always the OE filter.

That will work but why not get one with the correct chrome? Look for ones with matte chrome so it matches.

This should be what you need.

It was just a few items down from the one you had found. If you are looking to do all of your switches I recommend you get them from Bold-Sport since it will be cost effective, the individual switches are hard to find on eBay.

I don't see any reason it wouldn't work. As long as you have a GLI it should be an exact fit. Check the GLI headlight switch removal DIY so you can compare the plugs or better yet look at your own switch. Also you should be able to turn your switch around easy on the forum classifieds or CL or ebay.

GLI Euroswitch is the same as the Mk.5/6 Golf and GTI.

There was a DIY on here and a whole thread about this. Try searching. BTW the car wasn't designed to have one so you would have to cut/drill to mount it and even then it may not work as well as the MK4 / MK5 ones because the hood is longer and heavier.
