That rubber trim drives me nuts. Keep it as dry as possible when washing, probably keep a towel nearby.
    Thanks for answering.

Are the rear brakes on the 2012 TDI drum brakes or disc brakes? Just a curious bystander that apparently sucks at using search engines.

Jetta's started recieving disc brakes on the rear somewhere towards the end of the 2012 MY. Ive been at a dealership and seen both on the same cars with the same options.

2013 = Disc rear on higher trim cars.

I complained about the dealer installing the plates with big screws on the online survey. These screws actually went into the paint and pushed the bracket outward and tore up the bracket's screw holes .

Will VWoA help me at all? maybe send me a new bracket and appropiate sized screws?

Does anyone know where I can buy OEM emblems and badges? I'm considering trading my SE in for a GLI and I don't want to show up with it having painted emblems and a broken E in the jetta portion of the badges. I haven't seem anywhere that actually has OEM so they give this warning that it "might not fit by like 2-4mm" and I don't want that garbage. Any idea apart from VW, let me know. Thanks.

Spray paint. don't remember the brand right this second. i sanded the font chrome before I painted it and the black plastic behind it. for the rear I sanded the texture off the back plastic piece. I wish I waited till i found plastidip for the front but i got antsy. I had no intention of looking at a gli but i found a deal and I'm tired of drooling.

How do people on this forum get that information on the bottom of their entry. That information that is specific to them. People put catch phrases, their make and model, and other random info/quotes there. It's in the account/profile settings? but where exactly?

Because they all use the same style grill that has been used since 2003 in some cases while the GLI grill is since 2010

I've searched, but couldn't find what i was looking for... I know there was a thread about this a little while back but I can't find it... Anyway:

I have a GLI with the RCD-510 in it. I had heard about an update for it, that would allow for the BT audio to show information and be able to control the bluetooth connected device. Is this an update that I could get? My VW dealership is full of idiots, so if i asked them I wouldn't get an answer.

    Thanks

Here are a few stupid questions...serious, but still stupid

    1. How long do coilovers and springs last?...Under normal conditions, on a relatively smooth road?... i went over 100k mi on a 2002 frontier with stock shocks, and my o7 Passat still has factory shocks after 100k mi

    2. Is using lowering springs with oem shocks not recommended? or will the wear and tear increase?

That update is likely not possible. It's more of a hardware update and not software

Better not crack up your Jetta with State Farm as your carrier. If you do be ready for the cheapest possible repair utilizing the cheapest aftermarket and used parts possible.

this is my serious stupid question:

If I de-badged the "GLI" badge, can I use the same badge later if I change my mind? If so, what should I use for adhesive?

It'd be easier to get a new badge.

Ok so here is my stupid ? for the mk6 fitment gurus.

I am a old school water cooled guy an my knowledge of wheel fitment for those models are strong, HOWEVER we picked up a mk6 TDi jetta in toffee brown metallic for the Mrs. She has decided she wants 19x8.5 / 19x9.5 BLQ's for her jetta. I know they offer a few different offsets in both sizes.

What are recommendations for offsets for a mk6 in those widths? There will be slight stretch for tires an she is a fan of flush or barely poked.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Thanks man, good idea. I have steel wheels and hub caps, so it will kind of be a pain.

Yes, all 4 corners, no camber. 215/35 Falken 452 tires. Gives just enough stretch to pull it off. Fronts tuck fully.

I feel like this is a stupid question so ill ask it here. Will putting lowering springs on my car affect the ride quality? And whats the better option to lower with, coilovers or just springs?

for GLI owners, can you actually hear your turbo? I've had mine for almost two months, driven almost 3,000 miles and I swear today was the first time I could actually hear the turbo and the diverter functioning. The music was pretty low, AC was on, cruising at 65ish in 6th. If I gave it some gas, I could hear the pressure build and then the woosh of the diverter/BOV releasing pressure. When I got home, I actually looked to see if something had become disconnected or loose, but all looks good.
