Thanks. Looks like I'm gonna have to pick up that strut tool. Worked for awhile on getting it separated with no luck. We got the rears done and spun them all the way up so it doesn't look like I've got three fat chicks in the backseat till I get the fronts figured out

You used to be able to get them from the dealer, but then they had some issue with people getting burned. Now they dont list it on their website anymore. The links below have some... or you can check ebay. I know they have a whole bunch.

I got mine from Fowler VW (which I found on ebay). They didn't have an auction for them, I just asked for a price quote. got em shipped for about $40.

What size are the speakers for the front and the rears? Looking to upgrade this as well

EDIT: Found the answer. Reading and searching helps

"NOTE: dont purchase any speaker more than 50watt. your stereo is not that powerfull and u wont get strong bass . all speakers size are 6.5" . I hope it helps "

    From the DIY thread

Is it normal to have a rattle around 1,000 rpms? (goes away at about 1,300) Sounds like a heat shield or something.. kind of annoying.

My new GLI sounds like a diesel down that low....

Anyone have a pic of the strut mounts in the trunk? Didn't want to take my entire liner out just to see how it looks.

it bolts to the inside of the wheel well, not inside the trunk. Two bolts on top and one on the bottom. Quite easy to get to.

Ok, so I switched back to 87 octane, and while I don't notice any power difference or change in idle roughness, it should be pretty much free to use 93 because of the mpg gain. So far, it seems that this is only true for me in the city. I definitely will need more samples to have anything really worth talking about.

So, pending more tanks of each, I got 26 mpg city with 87, 28 mpg city with 93. So:
    • 87 octane - $3.90/gal, 26 mpg, $0.15/mile
    • 93 octane - $4.15/gal, 28 mpg, $0.15/mile

    I'll keep logging.

I tried Premium 91 for 2 fill ups and it made my car feel horrible. The idle was shaky after the second fill up and the transmission seemed to shift less comfortably. I also did not see an increase in gas mileage or performance, but a drop in both (MPG -1). I have an 2.0 which could be the reason that it improved your ratings and not mine. I returned back to Regular a few days ago and all seems well again. I wont ever use premium again in my car.

Would the MKV Bilstein struts fit on the MKVI SE since it fits on the MKVI GLI?

    Wheel Fitment Question!

    18x8.0 F / 18x9.0 R
    5x112
    ET45 F / ET45 R

My current setup. I want to go flush, no poke, no tuck... just clean flush with even-ness all around.

What spacers should I go with? I was told 5-8 front, 10-15 rear... Any precise spacers anyone would recommend based on experience?

    Insight would be appreciated.

Might be in VAGCOM, but that is just a safety feature so the turn signal isn't blocked out by the brighter LED lights. Every car with LED DRL's does this.

    Would like to see photos.
Please state how much lowered and the spring/coilover set-up used.

This. The turn signal is more noticeable without the DRL on, especially if it contrasts the turn signal side to the side with the DRL still on.

TL,DR: Looks stupid, but serves a good purpose.

Is there a DIY guide on changing springs on the MKVI? Project I plan to tackle with a buddy of mine soon. He's done this sort of thing before (I haven't), just figured I'd bring all the info I can with me.

    2013 Jetta

I have an old iPod that I had intended to leave in my 2013 Jetta, but every time I get in the car I have to disconnect and reconnect the cable with the iPod on to get the sound system to recognize it. Is this normal, or is there a way to get to to be always accessable?

My new GLI sounds like a diesel down that low....
I registered this account to say that I have this exact issue. Sounds like a large flat piece of plastic hitting a resonant frequency or something like that. Drives me nuts! It started at 300 miles on the odometer. (700 now)
