Unique is charging me right arounnd $1000 to do the front and rear seats plus a few other small items. we use them through the dealership so i don't know if that is a deal for me, or just general rates.

today i picked up and exhaust from Derek, and a new OEM grey cloth top from Adam R., and then dropped that off with a bunch of other stuff to Parts Score.
I am being told wrenching will start tomorrow afternoon when the car is delivered from paint back to Parts Score for the remaining work.
We have less than 5 weeks till Wuste.

A wee jealous.. took me two full years for an entire rebuild from engine to paint to top....

the moment and pictures i have been waiting for, for 8 weeks now

the car will get towed to Parts Score today and the painter will let the guys know there some details, and even offered to help out with reassembly of some stuff.

the color is IMO freakin amazing.
I am so happy right now its not funny

Is the frame around the windshield getting painted a different color or is there not metal surrounding it?? Not familiar with cabrios and curious since it and the insides are all covered with plastic.

Good for you Brian! I find that paintwork is the most challenging part of completing the project so barring any mechanical complications you should make it.

I think/hope it was painted when the car was jammed. Once upon a time Brian was talking about making it look brush stainless like the R8 Spyder which in my opinion would look cheese ball - When I win the lotto the first thing Im gonna do to my Stasis R8 Spyder is color match all the shiny bits.

the windshield frame was painted body color. if i wanted to do the stainless look i could do the 3M vinyl stuff to mimic the look, but for now it will be body color.

Yeah for now the engine will stay stock. The trans is from a TDI and had a new clutch plate flywheel done about 30k miles ago so I will keep that. Eventually I want to go turbo but would get a lower mile engine if I do.

It's the shop that is doing the build.

Josh @ Phoenix Collision & Custom Paint is the one that painted it.

I hadn't clicked on this thread for awhile...I had no idea this build was going to be a sprint to Wuste...looks nice, should turn some heads when it's all bolted back together.
