This thing is going to fly out of the showroom floors at that price.
#4
That's cheap!
It's only $1k more than the US pricing. Whereas a GTI is $5k more!

Will sell. Cooper S is a million dollars. My sister bought a regular Mini (mind you, loaded to the moon) which MSRP'd at over 30k last year. ($4000 rebate from Mini on it at the time).

just to build on your point. This would be a very interesting strategy. A complaint from the enthusiast community has always been that stripped out/luxury-less versions of sports models have not been available. A stripped out Abarth would be an interesting beast in itself for some track action (provided they arent stripping the performance goodies!)

F that for the same price I can get a skyline with a trunk full of Kraft dinner and still have room for luggage.

Most likely won't steal any sales from the Asian crowd here(all driving BMWs,Mercs,Audi's,Lexus, some Acura's).

A lot of small cars are close in price, if not cheaper in Canada. Sometimes that has to do with the fact that some models have standard A/C in the US and have it as an option in Canada.
Dodge Journey and Grand Caravan I think are cheaper in Canada, but they are hardly appealing to members here.

Didn't realize it was on Fiat's site already.
Ok, so this is all optional:
Auto climate control
Heated Seats
Sunroof
Sirius
Nav
Leather
Alarm
17" wheels
Stripes/Mirror caps
Not bad actually, but prices are not shown. Only four colors available though, same as the GTI. That's one way to keep the price down.

A hundred dollars on your hair, fifty on your nails, fifty on make-up, two hundred dollars for an outfit. You ladies spend four hundred dollars to bring home a thug that ain't worth ten cents!

I think the Canadian price for Abarth is pretty attractive. Here are others starting MSRP for references...
Mustang V6 base - $21249
Camaro V6 base - $27965
Civic Si Coupe - $25990
CR-Zzzzzzz - $23490
Genesis Coupe manual - $24899
Veloster manual - $18999 (non-turbo of course)
Mini Classic - $21950
Mini cooper S - $28950
all CAD of course.
Now I just hope FR-S/BRZ starting price will be as close to the US price...

Canadian >MSRP< for the Abarth is marginally attractive. That's where the fun stops.
I'm Canadian and I walked into a dealership (Montreal: Des-Sources Dodge Chrysler). Asked for a quote. Salesman wanted $30,500 for a fully loaded Abarth, before taxes and some bull**** "dealer preparatory fees." I almost laughed at his straight face. Better yet, a base Abarth with no add-ons: $27,500. He said that was the price fully loaded 500 "Sport" trims were selling at.Didn't even get to choose my options/color etc.
The salesman said there were only 100 coming to Canada, and his dealership was allotted 4 Abarths. After alot of umms, hmms and ohhhs, he said "maybe" I could be the 101st.
Talk about sleaze.
After some research online, rumor has it there are 300 Abarths allotted for Canada, and that demand is 200% greater than current supply for North America overall. Knowing this, it's understandable that they're marking up the prices. Frankly though, for $2? grand more than $30,500, you can buy a base model WRX (all prices before taxes) or GTI.
Right now, the Abarth is the right car at the wrong price in Canada. Consider that these are probably a dime a dozen in Europe. And that they're not the best winter cars (FWD and very low), which is important in our climate. And they're designed by an Italian company, made in Mexico by Chrysler at an old plant. Jetta owners (see "FIX MY JETTA RATTLE" thread) should know a bit about cars made in Mexico.... And 50% chance the driver loses functionality of his legs in a high-speed head on collision, just like a Smart ForTwo.
I wouldn't pay more than $25 large taxes included for this vehicle. The amusing thing is....Chrysler Fiat will probably find 100-300 clowns who will actually pay up for this car. I think I'd rather buy a WRX instead, chip it, and do 4 wheel burnouts in the Chrysler dealer's parking lot in the winter.
Soundaktor: re-pimp ze auto.

I rather shell out $3-4k more for a BRZ(from the $23,995 non-marked up price)!![]()
