Was this some sort of tease?
No, I don't think the term "tease" is really applicable.
Consider it a preview of work in progress.
Will there be a version for iPhone/iPad, Android, Blackberry, or Windows Phone 7?
We are not planning to make a native "Application" for any of these platforms. Instead, we have begun working on an approach to support modern mobile devices in a completely platform independent way. This project is still in its infancy and there is no estimate of a completion date, so please don't waste our time asking when it will be ready. When it is ready, we won't keep it a secret!
In the meanwhile, the most portable way to run VCDS is to use a Netbook PC. These are small enough to fit in your glove box and cost less than a typical smart phone. Current ones usually come with Windows 7 Starter Edition, and VCDS works fine with this. Older ones normally came with XP-Home and VCDS works fine on that as well.
If you're a Ross Tech employee, thanks and I already understand. If you're not a Ross Tech employee, and I see no indication you are, then you weren't part of this conversation.
That's exactly how I took your comment, thanks. The comment was directed toward Uwe, as enthusiastic support for his efforts and to underscore the fact the market is eagerly anticipating his work whenever it may come to fruition.
Obviously the entry from our FAQ that Williams quoted needed a bit of freshening, so I've done that:
Alright so the FAQ states,"we will not take pre-orders until we are ready to ship."
Personally I will be ordering the License with HEX-USB+CAN interface in ~ 3 weeks. Will the mobile version be upgradeable to existing customers? Or should i wait a little longer to purchase?
2003 Jetta GLX VR6 - sold
1984 Cabriolet Wolfsburg - traded
1981 Cabriolet - traded
1986 Golf GL sold
We've always offered discounted trade-in upgrades to existing customers and fully expect to continue to do that in the future.
Pricing for this product has not been determined yet.
A certain page looks like it has been updated, with a [we can assume very, very tentative] release of first quarter 2013
VW OEM [LED tails, euro cupholder, hatch sill, glovebox handle], Unitronic intake, HPA [manifold, downpipe, tune, comp controller, 75A mount], HS Tuning RSR clutch, GFB DV+, Dieselgeek short-shifter, TyrolSport [front subframe collars, shift bracket bushings], USMillWorks plate mount, and deAutoKey LED signals.
But still people will be people and they will never be satisfied no matter what you do .
Suggesting a deliverable date and then failing time and time again in meeting it is the joke.
I would suggest if you can't meet it after three estimates then it is time to remove any hint of a delivery date at all and leave it open on the product page instead of:
oh no wait, sorry make that
oh no wait, sorry make that
the list goes on.
[QUOTE=Uwe;81306828]Hah! I wish this were true. Our stuff isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm happy that some very knowledgeable such as you think it is.
you are very nice person and only person like you can say something like that .
But let me tell you one thing. I own much more tool then VCDS, and I can tell you your tool is perfect . I never seen such a tool as yours that will do almost everything as factory tool does. And every new beta version is checked 100 times before release comes out.
This means you are really want to make PERFECT tool with out any problems.
That is what I call Prefect.
Plus tech support is one of the kind.
I never seen in my 14 years of work on cars in USA better company with excellent tool such as your company it is
It is still being worked on. Here is a quick and dirty video I put together earlier this month:
As for a release date... there isn't one yet. But when it happens, we won't keep it a secrete.
Jef blah blah blah
