Can you provide some details on the ESP fully disable mod? Sounds like something I would like for my car.

Little photo shoot with the cell phone. Loving this car. The OEM 17" Denvers are perfect for snow duty... planning on PLastidipping them next week.
Snow Tires mounted up... someone wanted to see...
And I sent away for another plate, so I don't really care about it being online.

Here are the two screws to remove when doing the side markers. Just lift up the fender liner and you can push the tab on the side marker from behind.
ATP markers... not as flush as stock, but they do look 100x better smoked... I may buy some lamin x and do the stockers.

Could the backs of the side markers be ground down a little with a dremel to get them to sit more flush?

Please get that dealer lettering off the hatch! Man I hate it when they do that. Of course, I will be removing the "R" from my hatch and grille. No reason to announce it is an R.

Something is missing...
Cover up them holes!
There it is... off to APR
PSA: you do not need an m8 triple square with our hpfp, there is no Bango fitting, rather a nipple. I read one writeup that had a triplesquare underneath.
All you need is:
Paper towels
Torx T30
Flathead
17mm wrench
13mm wrench
Pliers
Oh and do the trick with pulling the fuse for the fuel pump ... it helps take the pressure off.

I'm glad I kept my mkiv r32 it looks so much more better on the eyes. I haven't seen an R in real life but the pics you posted look like a regular golf...maybe cause you have those Gti rims on it. Prolly nice car and all but not my cup of tea...enjoy!

Fact that you need to know it is an R to realize it isn't just a golf is why I like it. I wanted a reliable low maintenance (compared to my B5A4) Daily that had all the newer technologies like bluetooth and nav. I nearly went with a B8S4 but wanted something less flashing in front of Clients. My B5 still raises eyebrows because it is an "audi" even though it is worth $5000 stock.
The MKIV is a great riding chassis, and handles completely different, very raw feeling. The seats are perfect for me, but anyone overweight in the slightest will want to punch babies. And it has aged (aged well I may say in looks) and I don't want to deal with the maintenance.
That being said, I am a turbo kid at heart, and 1.8T fan. I love this motor, and having driven the older VR6's, I rather the turbo. VR6 is great for about 1500 rpm then it falls on its face. Needs FI! Which I know a bunch of you have done.
But there is no denying the sound of the VR!

I guess if the wasn't an R32 then yea prolly, if I totaled it then yeah..I just don't get why vw kept the same engine as the Gti...chip a Gti and it'll be as quick as an R. At least the R32 was a 3.2 as to the Gti of that year unique.

Most my friends drive domestics, and after my GTI was totaled I had 3 domestic rentals, and when I go out on busniness trips, usually also domestic rentals. Regardless of the space there is for the window to go down, it seems they hardly ever go down more than half way. I have asked about it at 2 dealerships and was told it was for safety, since stereotypically american parents can't control their kids or buckle them down. (I'll leave it at that, not the forum to discuss it, ha ha)

Nice build! Where did you order the s3 intercooler and "R" buttons from?

Can you post the link to the writeup you used for the HPFP removal?
Thanks. It certainly would be a lot easier to just leave the R in the driveway rather than a shop for few days waiting for the pump rebuild.

This is exactly the detector I'm getting when my R (finally) gets here in a month.
How are you mounting it?
I was planning on running a hardwire kit along the headliner/windshield to a blendmount on the mirror.
Not sure if that would ruin my sightlines hanging that low, though...

Looking at your choice of intercooler hardware. Is that the AWE S3 FMIC kit?
I've been considering doing the APR software, intake, HPFP with the possible addition of an intercooler.
Looks like the AWE kit may come in a few hundred expensive than APR. How does it compare to stock and APR for intake temps performance and pressure drop? Does it fit without modifications? Is the hose kit also a good/easy fit?
Just curious about the thinking behind your choice.

R buttons from some site in the UK... and as much as I do not usually buy stiff from them, ECS had it pretty cheap, and I ordered a dry high flow air filter from them as well.
Suffield actually... be home tonight, getting my APR flash at noon tomorrow in Windsor Locks. I split between Suffield, and Woburn, MA.
I forget which writeup I was looking at... but it is really straight forward.
Remove Engine Cover (tons of writeups on this)
Unclip Sensors on pump, then pull the blue 30amp Fuse on side fuse panel, then turn over, until it wont run.
Uncap bleeder valve (has black plastic top), and use a pick or something to press the relief valve.
Remove the bleeder valve with 13mm box wrench
Remove Compression hard fuel line, 17mm box wrench
I removed the restrictor at this point (where hard line goes into pump) to get easier access to the return rubber fuel line.
Once you have those off, there are three Torx T30 bolts, and pull it out!
Package it up, with lots of protection, and shoot it to APR.
I haven't decided yet, I think I am going to run it like that, as I did in the gf's MKV, and my A4... I just need to experiment at a later date.
Lol
Just a normal S3 core. No "kit" costs $280.
APR's intercooler is the best standalone intercooler. It has the most surface area, least pressure drop, and greatest heat exchange properties... But the S3 one is a solid performer, and at only $280, I think it will hold up fine to what I want it to do.
I'll let you guys know how the tune feels tomorrow!
