With yesterdays trade I just had to start a new thread. I'm sure there are still a few Mariners fans around here too.

Thoughts on the Pineda trade? Thoughts on the lackluster offseason?

Damn... no replies is just sad bro. Montero is probably going to go all beast mode in Seattle ala Jay Buhner

That'd be nice. I loved Buhner!

I think this may be the year that I finally bite the bullet and upgrade from my Griffey jersey to a guy who is actually on the roster.

Felix seems like a safe bet since they wouldnt trade him for the whole Yankee farm system, though he will probably leave as a FA in a couple years.

That Buhner trade still haunts me

I swear it's like talking to my brother-in-law in these threads. Please tell me you arent a Seahawks fan too. Oh the horror

    Haha. It's complicated.

My dad is a huge Lakers fan (and basketball is the only sport that he likes) so that's where that came from. My grandmother is a huge Cowboys fan and she tried to get all of the grandkids to like the Cowboys by giving us all Cowboys related stuff; I was the only one that she convinced.

The reason that I'm a Mariners fan is because the first baseball game I ever went to with my grandfather was an Angels game when Seattle was in town. We arrived early so we could watch batting practice. Our seats were right behind the visitors dugout and Ken Griffey Jr. sat up there and talked with me and a couple of other kids for like 45 minutes.

As far as the Sharks... I was like 13 when I started watching and playing hockey and I was really obsessed with sharks.

My loyalty with Seattle lies mostly with Ichiro and all the Japanese players. That said, I now follow the Mariners religiously and will be making the trip to Saefco in May (from Missouri) to catch a few games.

I definitely want to make the trip to Safeco, from southern California, by next season. I've been trying to the past few years but we just moved last month so it may have to wait until next season.

    Kawasaki had a helluva spring

I always remembered him being that super steady SS during the WBC.

Tonight should be interesting....Yu Darvish vs M's

    Nice!

My uncle usually has a ton of flyer miles that he doesn't use (the girlfriend just used some of them for a trip to Napa and San Francisco) so if he has some when I make the trip I'll use those. I also really want to take a train up the coast.

Aren't you in Illinois (I could be mistaken)?

    I moved to Missouri.

Thought the Mariners were going to run away with this, but man the Rangers are just killing the ball now.

Today was fun. Five in the first - 11-5 loss.

    True Mariners fashion there.

Montero looks okay - We'll see where he sits in 50-60 games.

I would love to see some power from someone.

I jus looked at his stats...its still pretty close even with Pineda on the DL

It might take a couple years to see who won this deal. I still think both teams are going to be pretty happy with the deal in the end.

My brother texted me on Saturday night and said "Dude, why do the M's always play the A's?" I told him it was because MLB wants them to win the AL West.

You've got to run that play out with a 3-2 count and two outs.

I would say Montero's upside could be as high as someone like Billy Butler.

    We will see.

I've only been able to keep up via box scores,Yahoo! Gamecast or whatever it's called, and Sports Center/Baseball Tonight. I don't think I can manage to talk the girlfriend into signing up for MLB Extra Innings with the amount of playoff basketball I've been watching. But hey, they play the Angels May 24 and I'll get to catch that series!
