My name is Kevin, I've been snooping around this forum for about a year and a half - posting here and there...

I decided it would be a good time to start a build thread, show off what I've been working on and spending all my free money on.

I'm still in college, getting my master's in Mechanical Engineering - I'll be done in a year and a half THANK GOD. So the Audi is a side project that moves pretty damn slow. Took me about a year and a half to get to where I am now... but here she is a couple days after I bought her.

Bought her off Craigslist from an old lady with a WHOPPING 38k on the engine. BONE STOCK UNMOLESTED.
I pretty much immediately started doing little DIY's (clear corner, painted grille, stuff like that)

Back then I was all about the performance aspect of the car - so within the first 2 weeks of owning her she got:
      APR Stage I
      Forge TIP
      AEM intake
      Custom Heat Shield
      Forge 007
      Boost Gauge

Here's some miserable stock suspension autocross pics what was I thinking?

A couple months later I got a LaBree High Flow Cat, an APR cat back, and APR snub mount. Got the Stage II upgrade to get rid of the CEL from Stratmosphere - local to my college.

Next step was the euro trunk lid - PITA, but worth it in the end.

And it was cold as balls

I found some cool material and started wrapping some interior parts. Did the shift boot in half suede, half of this patterned velvet stuff -

Got bored of that and decided to do the headliner...

      LED plate bulbs

I started to get really interested in the stance scene and decided I needed a drop, so I bought these:

Put them on in the beginning of this past summer.... Had to buy S4 tie rods because mine were shot and I couldn't get it aligned.

But still lacking something... hmmmm what could it be?

      Bought these staggered Monoblock III's

      Front: 18x8.5 with Nankang NS-II 215/40
      Rear: 18x9.5 with 225/40

      Dialed the coils in...

First show in Lebanon, CT Volksmeet with a bunch of air-cooled heads there so the stance scene wasn't recognized

      Off to Waterfest

And that's where she sits for now... I'm pretty much out of money until I get another Summer internship, but I'll always be working on her. My buddy (Black MKIV above) just took some HD vid shots of my car in some pretty sweet locations for pictures. I'll be posting that up as soon as he's done editing.

Looking for some feedback - keep in mind my budget situation.

She's at almost 70k now - So i spent a retarded amount of $ on timing belt, water pump, serpentine belt, coolant flange, CV boot, wheel bearings etc. you know the deal. But gotta love it
      Cheers for now

      Gorgeous colour!

iirc, I was around 24.5" on the Benz wheels - I'm back on my winter wheels, but I didn't change the height.

You get used to driving around with a low car, I'm planning on dropping it down more when Spring rolls around.

Also thinking about refinishing the wheels... got some clear coat cracking and for some reason it looks like someone tried to sand one of them. I need new centercaps too

et30 in the front and et33 in the rear

The fitment was perfect right out of the box, no spacers. Tiny bit of poke in the rear and pretty much flush up front.

That's crazy. I guess since you are higher your front sits a lot more flush than mine. I'm at et25 and 22.8" and it tucks a lot more.

I would imagine dropping it another 1.5" would cause some camber haha

That's the plan for Spring, but I need to roll the fenders... I had a pretty awful commute to work all Summer so I needed something that wasn't going to put my oil pan at risk

Is there any rubbing at that height or rain tray dents that folks talk about?

Car looks sweet, I'm hating on the low miles along with others I am sure.

I've only had rubbing with 4 people in the car, otherwise none at all... means I'm not low enough

Anything under 23.5 will hit the rain tray

At 22.5 gtf my control arms just laid against the rain tray. I have some decent dents now

Im cutting my rain tray out before next season because all that hitting made my upper control arms blown.

The suede was a PITA because it doesn't stretch at all. I used an adhesive from a local fabric store cus the first bottle of 3M didn't work at all...i think I got the one thats been sitting on the shelf for years.

As it turns out that wasn't a good decision, 2 days later it started to sag I'm going to redo it in something different once it gets warm again, sucks not having a garage at school. Plus the pillars are starting to fade from the sun... anyone have suggestions for a better adhesive?

I honestly don't remember, but it was about $20 a can...

And silicone would be a good idea, problem is it would probably bleed through. Tough to get it right without nasty marks from where you laid it down.

Unless you could somehow squeegee it and lay it nice and thin
