there's no void.....unless you broke something on the stock air box and you can't install it back.
Simply reinstall the OEM when you take it for service to avoid the warranty issues.

I am currently debating on installing an CAI in my 2012 R-Line. I hear good reviews about the APR stage I & II. I also hear the K&N CAI is good as well. Not sure which to go with I am worried about the "void" warranty issue. K&N's website says their items do not void warranty.
Appreciate the input![]()

The stock intake is a CAI. Kinda a convulated path, but it's for noise reduction.
the biggest worry about aftermarket stuff, is the use of oiled filter elements, K&N, APR, etc. Usually, from the package the oil is sufficently applied.
The real concern is when you go clean it and reoil it. People have the tendency to overoil the filter element, as more is not better, but the oil can get onto the MAF sensor heated wire and interfere with its reading, thus causing the engine to not run properly.

The only way the intake would void the warranty is if the dealer could prove that the intake was the reason for a part failure directly. Same with any other mod. They would have to be able to prove that the modification in question was the direct cause of the failure.

I have found the APR Carbonio Intake Stage I for $299. Seems like a solid price. Anyone know of a place to get it cheaper? Provide link if so

Only reason for an intake is either for stage II tuning combined with a DP, and/ or sound.

Don't expect much sound from the APR one. I have stage 1 and it's barely noticeable as far as sound goes. Maybe the stage 2 intake adds a little more sound, but I didn't see that piece being worth it for the extra cost. Does look nice though.
I got mine installed at Waterfest......I think when they rang up my purchase they must have made a mistake, I paid $179 for it which I know is extremely low for that piece.

The only 'proof' they need is that it does not mean OEM specifications.
If your car suffers say, a MAF failure or hydrolock, man up and pay for it out of pocket.
