Made it to Colorado Springs. Now we have to find a spot to lay low for the on coming weather. Boulder over 1000 miles away. got to button down for the day.

      in other news:
So when you cross the Pikes Peak Intl Raceway sign, everyone becomes a racecar driver. Colorado Springs must be the Subaru/Rally/S2000/Drift capitol of the world. I saw a huge dust cloud for miles today, then I finally get close to it and all I see is Subarus rallying with a few Mitsus thrown in. it was pretty cool. Then I get passed repeatedly on the interstate by multiple S2000's. Even an E36 that obviously is no longer running BMW drive train. Tons of Nissan 240s wide-body.

Yesterday, Colorado Springs to Boulder 102 miles. Stopped at house I saw a hotrod hanging out of garage, The guys came out and handed me a beer. We talked automotive chit for 2 hours. It was amazing to find out they were NASCAR Crew Chiefs. One guy was so impressed by my adventure he asked if he could do anything for me, did I want to rummage through his house or sleep with his daughter? LOL!

Crater Lake is Awesome, it is a must see. I really want to go back to ride up to the rim and then ride around the entire lake.

The Utah pics seem to have you taking pictures from a car.

The car pics are coming out of Colorado across the pass at I-70. The bicycle trail was snowed over. We hitched a ride to Fruita, Co.

^This made me laugh greatly!!! I went North today up US-6/191 toward Price, Utah just cause of the constant head winds. lol.

Utah has a hustle on camping, finding free spaces is impossible. The trip today was all desert. Stay reading, I cannot wait to get to the Salt Flats.

Yesterday was a tough one. I thought my body hit a wall, at 4 hours I had completed 36 miles ..WTF.?. Later, I get to a point at 38 miles where i was done, and I mean DONE! I walk into a gas station asking to put my tent up. The attendant tell me i just climbed from 3000 feet to 7500 feet. I was like -WAHHHHHTTTTT- That explained it. I thought I was going to have to stop all together. Today was all down hill. Thank you Gandhi. Salt Lake City is just a touch away. Severe weather on the way. So instead of cycling the desert, we are going to traverse the city to get to the salt flats.

A hot tube would be super right now.

I remember riding in Utah about 20 years ago with some friends and struggling mightily on the flats. Couldn't figure out why we were having so much trouble.

When we came back the same way on our way to our campground later that afternoon we figured it out when we hit 35+ mph on our knobbies -- it's easy to be fooled by false flats when the landscape is so vast and open.

Yeah, that is exactly what I was experiencing. It would have been okay had I known we were going up.

Anywhere is a camp site. Only when they say- no- is it not anymore. Currently in some place called Orem, Ut. Tons of Volkswagens riding around. I'm waiting for the sun to set so we can find a "camp site", lol.

Just a heads up on crater lake, there is more snow up there than I realized. The rim drive is closed and there is 120+ inches on the ground...

Today was a cruel joke, all the West winds I battled are now North winds.... which i had to travel North today. Ha, not sure who to thank.

In other news, Yesterday was all down hill!!!!!! Rode at the base of mountains all day, and in the evening a woman stopped to ask if I needed help as I was looking at a map. She turned out to be a cyclist, and offered her home open to me if i wanted to back track 3 miles. So, we did. Great hospitality!! We are going to head out tonight to a scenic view about 19 mile from where we are currently in Salt lake, to "camp". Then we are going to attempt a Westward trek across the Salt Flats in the morning. Man I pray for East winds. Brother man could use a push. The bike is going about smoothly. We are carrying 2.5 gallons of water, 3.5 lb dog food, and a poo ton of other weight.
