he rain trying to keep me in Portland. Pfft.... Rain gear mode. Should be in Washington in a few hours. RIding along US-30. I forgot this is a holiday weekend... would suck traveling or hanging with weekenders. So we are going to hit Olympia and then Tacoma.

We never went to Astoria. We did cross that freaking bridge though. Holy Cow!!! Logs were everywhere on the bridge, it ruined going down the other side.

So what are your plans now? If your travels take you through Spokane, I can offer you a place to stay the night and a hot meal, if you're looking for one. It's not the Ritz, but it beats camping! Plus there is a nice bike shop just down the road should you need anything.

What great weekend so far!!! An old friend I went to High school with in Germany put us up in a Ramada Inn til Wednesday morning. We are relaxing in Lakewood. I have seen so many Volvo and Volkswagen again.

What happened to the "into Canada" leg?

Also, are you certain about taking the John Wayne Pioneer Trail? It doesn't look like it's a bike trail, following an old RR bed covered in "Crushed Stone, Gravel, Ballast, Dirt". Or are you planning on walking it (with flat tires)?

Canada is after Michigan. The interesting thing about this adventure .....it is about adventure. If we get there and I deem it impassible, then like in life - adapt.

amazing man, keep up the good work! Just a heads up that the only way to get to Canada from Michigan (other than by car) is crossing at the Blue Water bridge connecting Port Huron, MI to Sarnia, ON, and you will need a passport. Unfortunately Detroit/Windsor hasn't gotten its head out of its butt enough to make bicycle crossing possible here yet.

No worries. Seattle is giving me a headache. These roads suck. Finally picked up a bike map of the area. The rack is not cooperating today. I have had to readjust it 3 times today.

Nothing going right today. Broke my camp stove, rack shifted AGAIN!!!, lost trying to follow I-90 trail on Mercer Island. , and it is getting dark. oh, the gear changes are acting funky - probably my fault.

i wont be at Michigan until mid July I think. Original plans were to enter Canada in August. I'll have it figured out in a few days after I cross the Cascades ....again.

haha. Seattle Brian fixed my stove by take one he had apart and swapping parts.

*I lost my laptop last night and passport. Not sure how often updates will be now. Seeing as everything has worked itself out... maybe this will too.

Something is in the works that might result in me having a house full of unexpected guests around the time you were thinking of passing through here. I won't leave you hanging, though - if that does turn out to be the case, I will spring for putting you up in a motel for a night instead!
