Drove it to work for the first time! Everyone in the office asked if they could go take a look at it. Spent most of the work day giving tours of the [R]

What type of clear bra did you end up doing? I've got an appointment tuesday for the 3M one.

Used vag-com to code remote window open and close with key fob and changed comfort blinkers to 4.

Waiting on some additional feedback from Ross tech on the led drl intensity and the bulb out code for the tails.

Changing byte 18 to "21" will maintain full factory behavior. DRLs will reduce in intensity while head lights are on; same as stock.

XPel Ultimate. I was sold on it after I saw the video of the film self-healing after being thoroughly scratched. The scratches literally disappeared in minutes on their own. Very cool technology. I posted a link to the video in the recent clear bra thread.

Thanks uncanny, I've seen you post this information before and I appreciate it, I just don't understand how to input 21 in that byte. Can you elaborate? Also would love drl led to be brighter at night (same as day mode)thanks for dealing with the newb

Don't think you can change that yet... At least I couldn't get it to.

What he is referring to is the ability to change the brightness in the DRL mode... or with the lights off... you can dim it down tot he same level with the lights off, or crank it up to what it comes to from the factory... I tried putting the setting at 110% and it seemed to stay the same.

And I was trying to get it to be bright with the lights in the on position, but could not find a solution.

    Do you have vag-com?

Ig so Go to Cent Elec button, and then go to coding, and long code helper...

18th or so box will have it there... really easy.

If you're using the newest version of VCDS, it's not an option in the drop down menu of the Long Coding Helper. You must do it manually.

This is simple. Just copy the default long code and past it underneath. Count over to byte 18 (the red arrow) which by default should be "20." Change byte 18 to "21" and click Do it.

This is the coding for non-fog LEDs.

Screen Shot 2012-01-27 at 9.30.58 PM

As far as adjusting the LED intensity with the head lights on, it might be possible but I'll need to take a closer look. Hope this helps.

I just copied and pasted that long coding string I PMed you into the "new coding" box and hit "do it".
The coding was accepted and is now changed. I cleared the faults.

Problem is-I still have "check rear reverse light bulb" (or something like that)...and the passenger side reverse light still does not light up????

Could I actually have a bad bulb in there?? If not the coding is still messed up

That is exactly what I did-and still reverse bulb only lights on driver side...and error still shows up...no other errors though-before the coding change there were more errors...

Just a note here: be VERY careful about copying and pasting long codes, if yours is not exactly the same as other's, it could end poorly. Generally it's best to go to the long code helper, click LCode in the title bar of the next window, and manually change byte 18 (you tab through them) to 0x21 (0010 0001). Our default is 0x20 (0010 0000) so it's a check box difference. I coded my lights yesterday and it worked perfectly.

Finally got to test drive it - got into the dealer yesterday but I was working late. Took it for a nice spin, was very impressed with how it handled and the power delivery. I'll actually take delivery monday afternoon. Can't wait. Next step: Buy and install LED tails. Got a bigger tax refund than I expected so the LEDs are definitely in my budget this month.

Yes. And pressing and holding lock closes them (and sunroof)

I think sunroof only closes though, can't get it to open when the windows are also opening

Today I got her cleaned up ready to clay bar / Zaino tomorrow. First time I have tried to detail a white car though... so many little rust dots that just don't seem to want to come off. Hopefully the clay bar will do better.

Also discovered it's pretty difficult to get the slots in the stock rims clean. My fat fingers are hopeless... May need to invest in something that can get into the ends of them.

Soon she will gleam though! Tomorrow!

got my vag com cable today so I enabled the remote window operation and disabled the seat belt alarm.. Any other suggestions? I tried bumping the convenience turn signals up to 5 blinks, but it didn't take.
