Too tired to post up any pics, but despite a few interruptions, I managed to:
      1. Get my car tinted (ceramic FormulaOne Pinnacle 30% on sides and 15% on the rear window).
      2. Installed and programmed auto-dimming rear view mirror with homelink.
      3. Hard-wired Escort 9500ix radar detector
      4. Installed Euro cup holder (wow, what a PITA that was)
      5. Started trim removal and wiring for RNS-510 and RVC

Is this R specific, or compatible? How does it make engagement feel? Still smooth like stock with a short throw?
As another option to get rid of much of the play in the cables w/o increasing effort/notchiness or decreasing throw: http://store.42draftdesigns.com/VW-S...-09_p_285.html

I should have these in by next week-lots of reviews out there already for GTIs, etc. I had a short shift kit in my MKIV R32, but removed it and just ran these bushings because I don't like notchy shifters (I know some do )

      That works for me!

No rush over here. My flight leaves outta here later this week, and my car is waiting for me at the dealership and I probably won't pick it up till around mid-next week. <---That sounds awesome to say

Over the weekend i ran all my stereo wires, been so anal on doing things on this car it took me 3 weeks to decide my first mod. Everyone of my cars were modified at the dealership or as soon as i got home, the R is so perfect off the lot i didn't need to modify anything yet.. But that feeling disipated and now have the stereo setup in its first phase.
I know most are going directly to performance mods, I on the other hand am starting small, doing an led swap to all dash and door lights from red to blue. My thoughts are the blue and white guages would beneift blue dash lights with white as accent on a.c. and other buttons on dash when engaged.
I have pulled and disassembled my sunroof controls this morning with fingers crossed the mail man brings me my lights... I will post pics tonight if he actually comes of the roof controls.

Not much to review...they work! Plenty of stopping power (especially for all-seasons). So far no significant noise (I occasionally had some in my past experience with these pads-but no big deal). They have a different feel than oem-the compound feels harder (yet they still bite nice).

Lastly, after bed-in and a nice little run, I cleaned all 4 wheels with one towel:

Stock pads, and that thing would be filthy...so very low dust

Only downside...the backing plate is kinda suckeye (ohio) red in color
Addendum: the carbotech pads are making some noise as I remember (mostly just under light pedal pressures). Again, no problem for me whatsoever (kinda like it....sorta announcing not just a normal Golf here). But, if you prefer dead quiet pads under all conditions.....??

Also, the APR Stage 1 flash (or probably any good flash) is just sooo nice The car now has nice torque (seems like more of an increase than advertised), and as others have said you can pass in 6th above 3K no problem. Very nice improvement in performance/drive-ability/fun

If you are on the fence.....just flash it!!!

Weird, mine are silent. And I even took a very spirited drive on Sunday and then on the way to work today driving normally, no noise.

      But, a ton less dust!

Mine make no noise when I'm into them...just gentle little touches to slow a bit, etc. Not loud at all....just figured it might bother some of the more anal types on here where everything has to be just so (heard some guy actually painted the backing plates on his pads ).

Tint looks good. A lttile dark for my taste, I'll be doing 30% ceramic all the way around. Can't drive a car without tint, I feel too exposed.

so is it normal for people to tint their front windows a different percentage tint than the rear doors and rear windshield? i would've thought that the same tint all around would look better...

i've never had my car tinted btw..

I think they like the SUV/Minivan look.....

Or they are trying to stay within the law by not making the front glass too tinted.

Note that the standard ROW Golf R has the rear side and back glass tinted darker than the front glass.

i just got off the phone with my tint guy.

made the appointment to remedy my fishbowl status next wednesday. 10% all the way around. 20% just wasn't quite private enough on the MKV.

A little busy work to modify the bracket to get the side to side bushing to fit (front back is super simple). Helpful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHw3eRVASOE

      Installed bushings:

If you want to retain OEM leverage/smoothness of gear engagement, but remove much of the considerable OEM rubbery/sloppy feel-install these http://store.42draftdesigns.com/VW-S...-09_p_285.html

Well worth the $45 and a little DIY labor

I'm still waiting on a few things to come in from Chemical Guys, but what I have works in the meantime. I also need to pick up some 0000 steel wool and metal polish for the exhaust tips. Only 300 miles and the left tip already has a stubborn black stain on it...
